Nice review. It almost sounded like you work for AKA with how you raved about it. I agree in all aspects, I'm just pissed I blew the seal on my LPR and have to ship my gun off to Indiana. The only things I would change on the gun are the barrel and grips. I have a Freak on mine and hoagie grips. When the gun skips shots, it can be fixed by getting a pre BE revvo. A guy on our team told me about an X board being made which is the same thing. With a BE revvo I skipped shots at very key times. With a pre BE it never happened again.

The review

Thanks, for the compliment. Ya it is a glowing review and no I dont work for them. I did use a VL X board this weekend and noticed the feeding was much better.
Sorry about the LPR. I (knock on wood) haven't had any problem!

y ait is ugly and expensive

It shoots like a great spyder and costs twice as much with no appealing looks.
It is only 200 less then an Intimidator. I bet they dont sell to many.

Update on ExcaliBur review.

i HAVE HAD MY EX for a while now and I just wanted to update you with what has happend with it.
After a month and about 6-7 cases of paint I had the rate of fire uped to 13 per sec from 10. I can tell it is faster and I have not broke a ball in months! The only thing I had to have fixed was my ball detent and a dwell and LPR adjustment by the factory.
My only problem now is that I am sponsored by a new gun company and the wont let me play with my Excalibur!
I will stii have for a back up!

New design, good move.

I was sponsored by AKA and Centerflag last season. I got them that frame. I wondered what happened to it. I'm glad to see it made it on a gun. It is an inferno frame because the flat body is easier to make than the rounded spyder body. Our team got 7 spyder frames and one inferno to give to AKA. We put 4 on the original Viking protos and 3 on actual spyders. All guns had all AKA internals. There was a difference. The Vikings we got were custom milled and anodized and were beautiful. The Spyders still look like spyders, and were heavier, not vert. feed, and ran at a higher pressure due to the smaller lower tube and smaller stricker. I loved my purple fade Viking prototype but the new Vikings will be even better.

You sure the 4 protos you got were actually Vikings and not Spyder VLMs? The prototype blowback Vikings were always meant to have Inferno frames, while VLMs took Spyder frames.

A prototype blowback Viking should have Xcal vertical feed, top-cocking Lightning Bolt, Inferno frame, and otherwise identical to the VLMs. Atleast thats what I was told during the time I hounded AKA for more info previous of the revamp.

Thanks for that spout of general information...

If you had read a bit, you woulda realized we were talkin about the prototype Vikings, which were blowbacks. Basically a revamped version of the AKALMP VLM Spyder bodies geared towards electric frames.

Yeah, Basically, a modified VLM spyder body but they were out so early that it was another 3 months after we got ours that I got the Inferno frame to give to AKA and the "newer" Viking was made, top cocking instead of rear, but ours did have the threaded feed tube and all the other little features of a nice custom blowback. And ours did take the spyder frame. The reason they were going to use the inferno frame was because it is flat and easier to machine the bodies to match. Check out this one. One guy on our team wanted to sell his, it is already gone but here is the ebay number and a pick to check out.

ebay # 1808966672

Kind of a proto-prototype eh? NeatO, I woulda given quite a bit more for that gun if I had known of that bid. Damn me for not checkin ebay more often!

Ah anyway, my VLM Spyder is getting milled and ano`d as soon as I can find an airsmith who has the time to get to me before June/July
