Gpl Event #3 Official Practice

Hey guys. This coming weekend is the official GPL Practice on the fields as they will be for the GPL the following weekend at Del Hobbies. Since many teams are posting in in numerous places about practice, I decided to make an Official Thread here on who will be attending Del Hobbies on July 2 for the official Practice. Remember, if you are playing the event, this is a great leg up.

** YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO GET DISCOUNT AT PRACTICE - REGISTRATION ENDS JULY 5th **

Please Post so that others can see who is attending

a very unfair advantage to teams who travel for the gpl, not having the layouts like the guys who play at dels have.

I agree...Some teams travel a long distance to play at GPL, why give an unfair advantage to the local teams..
I believe that GPL is a great event, and I know many people like myself look forward to playing there.

Sundays practice went well. But, one concern brought up by both of the Hit Squad teams and other teams that were out there was last GPL tourny the practice before the tourny the Dels staff had us playing fields that we didnt play the weekend of the tourny. So, it defeated the purpose of traveling to practice for the event. Sunday it almost happened again until a few teams voiced this to the Del's staff and then finally towards the end of the day enough teams were asking the question if we were going to play the other 7man field during the this coming weeks GPL tourny and the Del's staff had no clue and finally called someone in the GPL organization and switched to the other field for a game or two. I would suggested that next event that the GPL staff and Del's staff have a plan of what fields will be played so every opportunity is made for the teams traveling in from around the regional area. This is an awesome event but, could evolve into something much better if the constructive opinions are taken into consideration... Hope my suggestion helps future GPL venues at Del Hobbies!

Best regards, Lukas "Team Hit Squad"

We do not make the final decision until the Friday before and sometimes the morning of the event what fields we will paly. We tell everyone to always walk them all or at least have them written down and looked at. We try to make it that you play one set in prelims and the other set in finals. Our choice comes down to many issues including (but not just limited to) weather, field condition on day of event and amount of teams. Del Hobbies sets the fields up however, regardless if we or they tell you that you are going to play one field over another, it is not until the day of the event where the announcment is made final, again possibly due to outside uncontrolable issues. We ask that for now and the furture that you make sure you are aware of all the fields just to be safe.

i feel at a 7 man event, a strictly 7 man field should be used such as the NPPL field. The APS field is more of a 5 man/rec ball field with many oddly shaped bunkers which you do not see in the PSP or NPPL. If the GPL is truely a NPPL feeder series, a NPPL field should be used. I am not bashing the GPL in anyway, but i feel that at a 7 man event, a 7 man NPPL field should be used, especially at the high caliber teams that are playing this event

GPL is not an NPPL feeder series - so if that is your answer on why they should use nppl field, then that idea is shot.

i like the aps field -- made for bigger "people"

correct me if im wrong but i think the GPL is suppose to be an exact resemblence of a NPPL feeder series. And the APS is made for bigger people? what about the standups and Long Standup bricks and the tombstones on the NPPL fields? Im a big man and i have no problem fitting in them.

i also take a 2 hour drive to get up there for the pratice with hitsquad, but honestly the last 2 pratices before the tourn. have seemed just to be a waste of gas.... we only play one feild majority of the day, and then at the end we get to play the other for 2-3 games...

at the tourn. we play the feild that we didnt get to pratice on much at all.. also sunday alot of my team, and others ended up reffing the games to keep it moving. i think if we are going up there, let the teams do the reffing to keep the games running at a constant speed.

just my couple of cents
