Here's a summary of the ETEK 5 features from Planet Eclipse. I also copied over (with slight modification) some of the features from the LV1 that are implemented in the ETEK 5. The list is really quite impressive and many of the best features have been carried over (either partially or completely).
This gun is clearly not an equal to the LV1. But it's close! And the price point is excellent. The gun implements many obvious measures to reduce cost (GRN parts, simplified milling, simplified valve system, simplified board, etc), but much of the performance still remains.
The gun looks, feels, and works great. I would definitely rate it far better than an ETEK 4 and even a step up from an EGO 11. The ergonomic changes are a huge difference and the shot quality and sound signature are both superior to the previous generation EGO.

The ETEK line has always stood for durability and reliability. Now in its 5th generation, the New ETEK5 holds true to those same basic principles. It utilizes the finest materials wrapped up in a package that offers outstanding performance, class-leading ergonomics and an array of features that make it a formidable proposition at its price point. It pushes the boundaries of what has come to be expected from a mid-range marker.
The ETEK5 has achieved this by using the trickle-down effect of features and ergonomics from its class-leading high-end siblings. For example, the ETEK5 borrows its basic architecture and form from the incredible EGO LV1. Its integrated LPR assembly and SL4 inline regulator ensure the ETEK5 operates with exceptional consistency whilst employing an extended pitch between the foregrip and gripframe, providing the most stable and comfortable shooting platform possible. The all-new dual-density wrap-around grips and foregrips not only look the business, but also use our latest stippled inserts to give the user a higher level of grip and control, regardless of playing conditions.
The ETEK5 points accurately and naturally whether snap-shooting or running and gunning. Internally, the ETEK5 now incorporates Zick3 technology which introduces a true 2-stage acceleration profile. This provides a very gentle initial acceleration to the bolt and ball which then increases during the 2nd stage of the bolt stroke to enable super-fast rates of fire. It enables the ETEK5 to be more gentle on paint whilst also reducing recoil. On top of that, the ETEK5 operates at much lower pressures compared to previous ETEK models. The much larger valve chamber combines with the high-flow valve and new soft-tip Cure5 bolt to deliver an HPR operating pressure of around 150psi and an LPR pressure of 85psi. The result is a quieter, smoother shot as well as having the added benefit of being more gentle on paint both in the breech and in the barrel.
As standard the ETEK5 uses its crisp, multi-coloured LED system to indicate the current state of the marker. Firing modes and parameters are easily accessed and adjusted via the LED using combinations of button presses and trigger pulls.
For those wanting to take things a step further, the ETEK5 has the option of a graphical user interface through the OLED display upgrade.* For the first time on any marker, the ETEK5 allows the user to plug this OLED board directly onto the existing standard circuit board without the need for any additional upgrades, such as frames, grips or even the circuit board itself.
* Please note: the OLED display is an additional upgrade item. The ETEK5 does NOT ship with the OLED as standard.
This quick and easy to install upgrade gives the user an instant rear-mounted graphical display that sits within the existing window at the rear of the frame. The OLED upgrade empowers the user to quickly and easily adjust the marker control parameters, such as firing mode, dwell and also to monitor breech sensor status, battery level, shot count and the actual rate of fire in real-time. Semi and ramping firing modes are fully configurable to comply with the requirements of every major paintball league.
The ETEK5 continues the platform’s recent success of combining advanced lightweight and durable composites in core areas of the marker. Failure rates in areas such as the gripframe currently stand at less than 0.05% for all ETEK3/4 models ever produced proving time and again that these incredibly tough components are capable of resisting any and all kinds of abuse thrown at them. They are more than up to the job of carrying the Eclipse name for reliability in any condition.
LV1 CARRY-OVER FEATURES
The rammer has also been further developed: gone is the institutionalised 1 inch bolt and rammer stroke found in all other poppet valve markers; this throwback from old off-the-shelf pneumatic components has no place in the modern paintball marker as it limits both intelligent bolt-head design, which can prevent stack clipping and bolt strike fractures, as well as the development of staged acceleration in systems that still have momentum requirements. The ETEK5 is fitted with the Zick3 rammer that uses a longer stroke in order to help facilitate both of the above and, contrary to popular belief, this additional stroke length has negligible effect on cyclic rates. The Zick3 also has a far more pronounced dual force set-up designed to help reduce the initial force on the ball as it is pushed towards the barrel and to offer more cushioning on the return stroke.
The low pressure regulator (LPR) operates in the 85psi range and the SL4 high pressure regulator (HPR) supplies air to the valve chamber in the range of 150psi. Both the LPR and the HPR have been redesigned: the LPR in order to house it inside the body, leaving the area under the barrel clear of any obstructions that might impede grip; and the HPR in order to shorten its overall length such that it blends both aesthetically and ergonomically with the internally mounted LPR. Both regulators are designed to operate within limits that will prevent accidental damage to key components such as the solenoid and the exhaust valve. The SL4 regulator is also capable of operating with tank regulators ranging from SLP-level outputs right up to high pressure (800psi) outputs. It's an incredibly versatile regulator.
Ease of repair and maintenance has also been significantly improved in the LV1 by making the majority of the markers key components accessible without the need for tools. The rammer cap no longer requires a hex key to remove, meaning the rammer can be cleaned and lubed without tools. The inline regulator, LPR, valve plug, exhaust valve, and valve guide can all be removed without turning a screw. It really is one of the easiest markers available to strip down and service.
Of course in a game one of the most important aspects of any marker is how it feels in your hands. The ETEk 5 features a raft of changes aimed at making it as comfortable, ergonomic and stable as possible. A contoured ergonomic rubber grip sleeves the HPR and runs up the front of the body, the grip surface designed to provide optimal control of the marker at all times. The distance between these two grips has also been increased to give a more stable shooting platform to work from.
