Exclamation "Can my gun run on HP?" Questions Answered Thread

HP-a High Pressure tank, usually running off of 800 psi give or take
LP-a Low Pressure tank, usually running off of 400 psi give or take

Here is a list of HP guns-
LED
LCD
IR3

Here is a list of LP guns-
03/04 SPEED
A4
A4 FLY
05 SPEED
G7
G7 FLY
06 SPEED
ANGEL ONE

LP suggested, but may run fine on HP-
Angel One Fly

With that being said, HP guns take Hp tanks and LP guns take LP tanks. If you have a LP gun and run HP on it, you run the chance of it missing up orings, shims, the poppit, and many other things, so its best not to run HP on a LP gun. Also, you may not be able to get the velocity under 300 FPS. With that being said though, you may use a HP tank on these guns-G7,G7 fly, 06 speed, A1-If you do though, the consistancy will NOT be as great as with a LP tank.

The 05 SPEED and all the guns above the 05 SPEED(G7,G7 FLY,06 SPEED, ANGEL ONE) have a different reg and are supposed to let you use HP on them. Some of the 05 SPEED regs can not handle it and some can. I would go out and test your gun and see if you can get your velocity under 300 FPS so you do not have to do the following--

If you have a LP gun and have a HP tank you can do several things. One of which is get a CP reg or any reg that can accept a HP tank; you can also change the minireg to accept HP (I will give a detail example of how to at the bottom of this post); you can also ask the company who made your tank reg if they can make it LP.

If you have a HP tank you can modify the mini reg to lower the spring stack pressure so you may adjust the gun below 300 fps.

1) remove all pressure to the gun.
2) remove the mini reg from the gun by unscrewing it counter clockwise
3) look into the top of the mini reg and locate the circle 'c clip'
4) with a circlip pliers remove the circlip
5)carefuly turn the mini reg over and tap it on a padded surface
6) you will note that there are cuped washers stacked on top of each other they look like this: )()()(
7)remove 1 of the cuped washers (springs) from the mini reg stack
8) reassemble in reverse order and re chrony

Of course, it is always better to just go out and get a LP tank or see if you can change the tank reg to LP before you do any mods to your reg.

I hope that helps everyone asking questions on thier tank/angel. If anyone else has something to add, because Im sure I missed something, let me know and I will edit it.

-Josh

Edit - The Angel One Fly seems to be a mixed bag. Some people have loads of trouble trying to run HP tanks, and have to do the minireg mod. Some people run their HP tanks just fine with no modifications. Best I can say is if you've got one coming, or plan to buy a Fly, try your HP tank. If it doesn't work, either mod the reg, or swap your tank reg for an LP model. (PS)

Let's try to make things easier. All markers will work with a HP tank if the in-line regulator is fast enough to regulate to the desired pressure.

Case in point....

Some people (not all) with speed05 or higher models have high velocity problems when using HP tanks. BUT once they put a CP ASA Adaptor and a decent in-line regulator (2-liter, Evolve PI, CP reg, ect...) the problem goes away. Velocity is can now be adjusted to users needs no matter what tank he uses.

The majority of high-end markers operate on 150-300psi and 40-80psi for the solenoid. Why should anyone be stuck with using a LP tank. At higher BPS, LP would be more prone to shootdown anyways. Of course not many people can shoot fast enough to experience that shootdown but why chance it with the slow or poor performing mini-reg.

Bottom line: If you want to have the option to use any tank (HP or LP) then toss the mini-reg and purchase a CP ASA adaptor and a decent regulator.

I hope that they improve the performance of the mini-reg with the new "The One". Hopefully the mini-reg can now accept both HP or LP without problems.

I might be trading for an 05 Speed but recently bought an 05 Legion Air HP. Do you remove one of the washers in the 05 reg the same way as the older regs? if not could you please explain how to?

I have shot in excess of 25 BPS, and have yet to have any sort of shootdown using a LP tank.

in demo mode there are no signs of dropoff after 30+CPS, for an entire tank full of shooting.

just because it's a higher pressure doesn't really mean it is any better performing than it's lower counterpart.

shootdown and piss poor consistancy is from poor regs, be it the tank or the inline, it's the reg, not the air that matters.

go out and test your gun..like i said, some of the 05 regs can handle it, some cant

if yours cant, come back and i or someone else will get you hooked up on what to do

Right now I don't have a chrono at my house so how will I be able to tell if it can go below 300fps? I won't know until I go to the feild so lets just say that my reg can't handle it, then what? I can bring the instructions on what to do with the feild to me. Thanks in advance...

You would do the same thing stated in the first post

1) remove all pressure to the gun.
2) remove the mini reg from the gun by unscrewing it counter clockwise
3) look into the top of the mini reg and locate the circle 'c clip'
4) with a circlip pliers remove the circlip
5)carefuly turn the mini reg over and tap it on a padded surface
6) you will note that there are cuped washers stacked on top of each other they look like this: )()()(
7)remove 1 of the cuped washers (springs) from the mini reg stack
8) reassemble in reverse order and re chrony

I'm wondering about the A1, i know that the more recent newer LP guns (G7, etc) could run on a HP tank because of some reg capability. I understand its a better idea to use LP on an LP gun, just wondering if HP will work on the A1 as well.

I would assume it would, but I have not been keeping up with the A1.

I have a 45/4500 Nitroduck HP, and I couldn't get my FPS below 300 using the LPR adjuster. Threw my buddies adjustable tank on at 370 PSI, and it ran like a champ (+/- 5 fps out of the box). Looks like I'll be making an investment on an adjustable tank.

Well, I shoot a stock G7 and I have no problems getting my velocity WELL BELOW field limit with my HP preset Crossfire. It's consistent and recharges very well.
