I think I'm gonna call it the "Valkyrie" . . . .

Alrighty, I've been kinda keeping this one under my hat until it was mostly finished.

It's still not totally done, but it's far enough along to get a feel for what it's gonna look like.

Just finished the CNC cuts on the body today.

Gentlemen BEHOLD!

The frame is a modified version of my electro Mag frames, and the body is a one off (or rather, two off, one for me and one for a buddy) that started out as a chunk of Merlin extrusion courtesy of Have Blue & ASP. Alias style front block, Alias solenoid, AKA regs, '03 Viking ram, AKA Tornado Valve, Modified Excalibur bolt & Pin, BP Norider feed, the barrel is one of Doc's freak type backs, with a white wolf Boomstick knockoff tip (which I got for a song on EBay :eyebrow: ). Board will be a Pred or a MiniMorlock, depending on which shows up the soonest (if at all).

The lack of boards will be what stalls out this project, as I cannot rightly use any board I am able to lay hands on until I get one in all of the EMag frames that people are waiting on. But, that's OK. I've been working on the design for eight or nine months, and the machine work on and off for another month, what's a few more, eh?

I'm still working on the name. I've been calling it the Two Tube Viking, since that's basically what it is (and I guess, for all intents and purposes, that's what the Evil M was too), but I think it needs a better name than that. And Valkyries were part of Norse Mythology, which is where the Vikings are from. That's pretty roundabout justification, but I think it sounds cool, and it seems to fit.

Anyhoo, I've got plenty of time to ponder that, I was just so stoked about how well the body turned out I couldn't contain myself anymore. And man, is it light. WooHoo, is it light.

That is all.

How easy was it? Not very. Have I shot it yet? No, more machine work still to do. How fast is it? How fast are Vikings?

What was done to the body to mod it?/Is this a cocker body? No, it's not a cocker body. In fact, I didn't mod a body at all, I started with a raw extrusion billet that I got from Have Blue at Air Soldier Products.

Like this:

How long did it take?/Was it easy? I've got about eight months on and off on the design, and then about a week in writing the CNC code to cut the outside, two days in the machine shop (about 14 hrs total working time) on the manual machine doing the functional machine work (barrel feedneck and ram threads, bolt pin slot, etc), and then about 7 hrs on the CNC doing the "pretty" machine work on the outside.

It is not a project for the faint of heart, nor the shallow of wallet, I'll have about $800 and months of my life in it by the time it's finished. But it will be the only one like it anywhere, and I built it with my own hands. Doesn't get much better than that.

Prime - Just because it is a stacked tube open bolt poppet marker, does not make it a Borg. It operates like one (and a timmy, and an ego, and an impulse, and a nerve, and a diadem, and a bushy, and a promaster, and and and and and ), but it's not like I could just take apart a borg, measure it all, and then crank this thing out. The layout is unique to this marker, though a lot of the internals are not. It's more Viking than Borg for sure. Now, don't think I'm angry or anything, I just can't stand it when people write things off as "just a" whatever, when in reality they are very different. That's like calling an Ego just a light Impulse, or a Viking just an ugly Angel.

That looks amazing only thing im not into is the timmy style asa/lpr. I never liked that part seporated from the main body, not sure why...otherwise love the milling and love what your doing with it.

There is more to paitball markers than just the way they look

viking > angel

The viking was way ahead of the angel back when the viking was produced. WDP is still playing catchup to AKA to this day...

You said that you had 2 merlin bodies to make two markers, however I see two in the background of the photos of the one you are making now. When can I expect mine in the mail? JK

Nice work, I would love to afford the tools needed to do one of these projects, its very inspiring to me! Keep up the great work, untill I can afford the real thing I guess I will stick to solidworks.

Good eyes. That's actually one nearly finished Merlin body, and one stick of WGP cocker extrusion, neither of which is what this thing started from.

This started out as a totally blank section of Merlin extrusion about 8" long. I've got about 25 or so billets like what I used here, and now Have Blue is selling the extrusion in 5 ft sections too. I'd bet he'd sell me a 20' stick if I asked real nicely. That stuff is good for all kinds of things.

CoolHand, what are the dimensions of the Merlin Extrusion that HaveBlue sells (more specifically the diameter of the stacked tubes)?
