all right me and my freind had an argument today. he was sayin that the soldiers and marines in iraq are using ammunitions with dipleted uranium tips. is he telling the truth or did he just here it from a radom person spreading propaganda about the war
ya thats what i thought but my freind was saying that iraqi doctors are saying that they are having more birth defects as a result of du tips. i think it is a bunch of bull**** but thanks for your help
It has a hardened steel core, with a lead base, and hardened copper shell. The tip is usually painted green to signify its .223AP ammo. Sometimes mixed with red-tipped traccer ammo.
I have a whole case of green/red tipped ammo in my basement. Surplus from the gulf-war.
As mentioned above, depleted uranium ammo is ONLY used in guns that are 100mm or bigger.
The M16 is only 4.5mm!
Remember- The whole point of depleted-uranium is that its slightly heavier. So, you will only notice the benefits from large cannons.
The guy was probobly confused when he saw the green-tipped SS109 223AP ammo. Thats normal.
