i was looking to start a small online/ebay business. i was planning on selling paintball guns and goods. i was wornding what would be a realalistic start up fee.

I'm starting up my business. I had originally had the idea of being internet only also, but I found quickly that most wholesalers are not too interested in making dealer accounts for internet only.

most manufacturers arent, a lot of wholesalors dont mind it, i know nps doesn't, and neither do many. but I know like Dye and other manufactureres want a brick and mortor shop.

Business Licenses can be around $100.00 from what i can remember. As far as a website, find someone to host the doman for you, and then either use your own program to make it or hire someone. That could cost anything from $50.00 UP

NPS wouldn't give me a dealership cause i didn't have a store so im trying other places, but cause i know theowner of the field i lpay at pretty well he might let me set up an " imaginary proshop" at the field so i can give nps a adress, btw does nps check the stores they are selling to??

also you canget a retail license for free, at least in CA

Web hosting is as low as $4.99 per month.

A database-driven website (which is what you need) can be from a couple hundred dollars (turn-key or template) to in the thousands.

I currently charge about $8000 for a basic website with store. If you want a really in-depth, easily searched product area, it will usually cost more.

Yes. NPS does come out every so often and check to make sure you have a legitimate store front. They are coming to our store sometime this week.

The key to your online business is to find a smaller niche inside the sport of paintball, its the only way you'll do any business. You can't really compete with the big guys online, not if you want to turn a profit. Trust me on this, I know firsthand.

Opening orders are usually $1000-1500 some more some less.

I think you will find getting a good web page done to compete with ones out there is a lot of work, and or expense. If you have a friend with a field that doesn't have a shop there... why not just come up with an agreement that you will set up a little shop at his field? Then you have a captive audience of folks that will want to purchase items... and it's good for your friend as if someone breaks something, they would not be playing anymore unless they can buy that new elbow, hopper, etc...

I would make sure he has experience working with sites like this. You have to take into consideration that you will be storing credit card numbers in your database. Security is a major issue, and, hence, a majority liability. If someone were to hack into your system and get those CC#'s, you would be held responsible as owner of the site.

You could, but that's another expense you need to factor in. I believe it about 3% per transaction.

What does your friend program with (i.e. languages)?

I know you dont have to be 18 to own a buisness, im 15 and own one. But to get a buisness license you need to be 18.

Just sell stuff on Ebay for now, dont waste your money on a site yet.
