Oh, this is a liberal talking point? An embargo is retrograde to a free market economy, a conservative value. Communism in Cuba is no longer a threat.

So yes, people actually do care.

I agree.
The sanctions came about because Castro stole billions and billions of US assets. Simple as that.
The missile crisis and the bay of pigs added to tensions, but those were not really econimic issues.

However, Cuba also attacked our allies, like Grenada, again adding to tensions.

But, it is probobly time to end sanctions. Cuba, as a communist regime has been a total and complete failure in every aspect. The fact that it is all alone now, without USSR backing, means it is no longer a threat.

Oh of course, because your rhetoric is sooo superior.
How could I forget?
Tossing around labels like "conservative ____" and "Liberal ______" does nothing to help a thread. The embargo isn't even a hot subject right now, so how do you figure it's "a liberal media talking point of the day?"
How about you contradict these supposed "liberal talking points," if you know the issue so well that you feel comfortable talking **** about the posters before you?

Ooh, looks like some people are touchy! Yes, it is just another talking point that is perpetraited and regurgitated from certain agenda based sources. It is garbage along with oh so many other waste of times posts by many of the "usual suspects".

Yes, my trhetoric is superior. You don't see me creating these political biased threads trying to spread the propaganda.

You're absolutely ****ing ridiculous. You come in here trying to slander anyone who brings up a topic you arbitrarily deem a "usual suspect," or anyone that posts anything that may agree with an "agenda-based source," while you remain ignorant and contribute nothing to the discussion.
If the embargo is such a "perpetuated" (nice spelling, btw) topic, than you should be experienced enough with it to effectively negate the opposing viewpoint.

And the whole point of the politics forum is that people can state their opinions on issues and then see how well they can defend those opinions against the opposing side. Bias? OF COURSE, you idiot! When someone argues for a side of an argument, they are going to be inherently biased towards what they're supporting.

As to your claim that any discussion of the "liberal" viewpoint on the embargo must be simply "regurgitating" talking points from "certain agenda-based sources", are you RETARDED? Liberal pundits are the only ones with agendas? YOU MUST BE JOKING

Let me rephrase:
According to the Cato Institute, DHS officials who could be unraveling terrorist financial networks are instead tracing property property brought in by American tourists who may have travelled to Cuba. My point is that regardless of which inefficient bureaucracy is in charge of the searching, their priorities are misplaced.

If my logic is screwed up, point out the fallacy instead of making broad assertions you can't back up.
Yes, you got owned by me, and now I'm going to explain how:
1. You claimed my rhetoric was a "liberal regurgitation."
2. Your diatribe about my "liberal regurgitations" (which you failed to prove were actually liberal regurgitations as you stated) was in itself a "conservative regurgitation" by your own standards.
3. This is quite ironic and makes you look dumb because you came here without any facts or an argument of your own, and then when you did try to present some shred of logic, it was all one big fallacy. QED

Again, thanks for posting the obvious that the embargo is still on. We KNOW THAT, YOU DUMB**** *******. WE ARE HERE TO DEBATE WHETHER THE EMBARGO SHOULD BE ON, NOT WHETHER IT IS ON.

Let me get this straight...
We aren't as smart as we think because we use logic in debates instead of broad, unfounded assertions? That makes sense.
PBN trash? You and your spamming of this thread with your useless posts are PBN trash.

Enjoy your thread kids and have a big group hug....

You didn't like me reasoning: there is NO reason why we should lift the embargo; we put the embargo in place and said it would not be lufted as long as Castro is in power - let's keep our word.

You didn't reason at all. You didn't refute any points. All you said was "we should keep our promise." Because that's what governments do right? Keep promises?

What's going to happen when Castro dies, in your opinion?

I don't need to protect the embargo by refuting any points, the embargo is the stats quo at this time. It for the side wishing the embargo to be lifted to come up with some wild good reason for it to be lifted, there has been no such point made IMHO.

So we have no good reason why the embargo should be lifted. And we have a promise that was made by a now dead President. Yes, we should try to keep that promise. And no, we all know our government has not kept all its promises, but why add to it here?

When Castro eventually dies hopefully the Cuban people will have a transition in government and have a society that enjoys more freedom and prosperity. Then we won't see them risking life and limb crossing the water in mishap boats. I believe if Cuba's government changed, we would see the embargo lifted and a big influx of US money poured in to bolster the new society.

I happen to know a gentlemen from Cuba who lived under Castro. He is an older fellow obviously and experienced Castro's rise to power. He used to be an attorney in Cuba who practisied in personel rights and freedoms. He had to flee Cuba or become a political prisoneer under Castro's regime. He lives as a LEGAL citizen here in the US now and enjoys his golden years working as an interpretor and is certified by many courts up to and including the world court. We have talked of Cuba and Castro at times and he loves his country and would like to see it again before he dies. He has said he will never set foot there under Castro and has stated the embargo should never be lifted under Castro's regime. I will trust in his first hand sentiments on this subject over any of ours.
