My Custom Matix

Thanks for all the awsome support everyone has given me. For those of you who are new to the thred, A little over a month ago I decided to try something a little diffrent with my matrix, not only did I want to make it lighter by cutting out the Dead Air Chamber but I also wanted to cut out the center of the marker and seal the Tube used for the x-93 bolt kit to make it have a unique look, something that I had never seen on another matrix. After alot of work with some air tools, dremel, rotozip, ect. I finished and sent it off to A+ this is the result. There were many diffrent modification I made that you cannot see, but for those of you wondering about the feedneck, i use a q-loader and my set up allows me to feed at great speeds while keeping the smallest profile marker on the field.

I should have weighed it before but I didnt, I will have access to an analytical balance next wensday. Shes lighter, how much is hard to say. Wasnt really concerned about weight with this milling. I cant put her all back together just yet...im milling some stuff out of the frame right now too. I'll be sure to post more photos as I get more done, the whole thing started about 2 weeks ago so its moving right along.

How many dremel bits have you gone through? I remember with my DMC frame it took me quite alot of time to get just the small tray milled out.

Theres a couple ideas im stealing from you. Like where the eyes are routed through, but that one was conjured up by Demon milling.

She is coming along quite nicely though. Check the thread about your gun on PBSpace. I think i found a solution for you graveyard anno .

Haha Canfield man, you fallow me around like a stray dog, but its cool, if you want any help with your milling just let me know, I know your getting a machine but bounce idea off me anytime. I started polishing tonight...wow...just wow. As for bits, actually I started by going through a 4 pack of cutting blades before I got a technique down and since then Ive gone through very few of those...Ive gone through probably 8 diffrent sanding bits, and a half dozen polishing buffer bits

Its amazing how often i run into fellow trix forum users when im just dicking around and surfing the nation, guess we all think alike.

Those buffing bits die real quick if youre actaully accomplishing something in a reasonable amount of time. Post up some pics of this amazing polish job you seem to have going.

fascinating project. I hope all your calculations are correct and that it holds a seal.

looks like you shaved off quite a bit of metal off the sides down low.

IT works, he made a custom gasket for it and aired it up before he proceeded with all the other cuts.

She's still dirty, I didnt get all the jewlers polish off, and this is first run over on this side, but its polishing up better than expected, I still have to finish a few minor spots before I finish, I have a trip to Home Depot tomarrow morning to get more sanding/polishing tips but here is my start.

Thats true about the name thing, but then again grems is slapped on his bolt tube.

The name id put on mine wouldnt be Canfield since that my real name and would look gay on my own gun. Id put my nickname on it "Dirtbag". Its got a nice ring to it dontcha think?

The Dirtbag Matrix

Now im thinking brown is a reasonable anno color. . .

lol his name is also much cleaner and profensionaly done. I was much impressed with his. I like what I have, I had to use a set of dimond tipped etching blades I bought a while back for another project. They were very hard to use, but the effect they gave is so diffrent than a milling machine will ever do, it looks sorta sketchy and I decided I like that.

Only if you get a portrait of Kevin Federline laser engraved on it too...

Seriously, that's the most meat I've ever seen taken off a Trix. After I finish my current project, I wanna get one to mess around with. Of course, given the pace of my projects, that'll be approximately 2011. Darn med school eating all my time.
