Tippmann buys out W.A.S.

Tippmann Purchases Technology and Production Rights to Wicked Air Sportz's Equalizer Circuit Boards
3/17/2006

BUFFALO GROVE, IL - MARCH 17, 2006 - Tippmann Sports, the world-leading manufacturer of paintball markers and related accessories, has purchased the production rights to Wicked Air Sportz's (W.A.S.) Equalizer circuit boards. The deal allows Tippmann to exclusively offer enhanced electronics in its 98 Custom line of markers with E-Trigger and its A-5 with E-Grip. The new boards are currently being installed into Tippmann markers featuring built-in electronics as well as all E-Trigger and E-Grip upgrades at the company's headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In fact, markers with the W.A.S. Equalizer have recently been shipped and are arriving at paintball dealers across the country.

"This is an exciting development for Tippmann and, more importantly, for paintball players," said Patrick Ehren, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tippmann Sports. "Now, we're able to offer the fastest, most reliable electronics available, which were previously sold only as upgrades in the paintball aftermarket. By bringing together Tippmann's well-known durability, the unmatched performance of Wicked Air Sportz's Equalizer boards and our recently launched 98 Custom with A.C.T. (Anti-Chop Technology) - we've created a winning combination that allows Tippmann to further differentiate itself from industry competitors."

Tippmann's W.A.S. Equalizer electronic boards can shoot up to 30 balls-per-second and offer five firing modes, including semi-automatic, turbo, three-shot burst, auto response and full-safety auto. The new boards also feature an automatic shut-off, which is activated after 30 minutes of non-play to maximize battery life.

"We're very pleased that Tippmann will be incorporating our boards into their markers," said Jim Drew, President and CEO of Wicked Air Sportz. "I've always been impressed with the company's dedication to bringing well built, techologically-advanced products to market. And, I think this partnership represents a continuation of Tippmann's focus on manufacturing the most durable markers that perform extremely well in the field."

Consumers seeking additional details or service information regarding Tippmann's W.A.S. Equalizer electronics should call the company directly at 1-800-533-4831.

I doubt it. Tippmann is a great company with great customer support. It can only be a plus.

Good for you but the A.P.E. board won't work in this marker.

I originally posted this while I was trying to find out if Tippmann had anything to do with the design of this marker. But after further research I found that the board is Tippmann's only involvement. The marker is owner and designed by Warped Sportz LA which was alrady posted by someone else.

I've long been a supporter of Tippmann, and WAS. I support WAS, in large part due to the free upgrades. I support Tippmann because they make high quality gear. This is something I've seen coming ever since Tippmann showed that it was looking to expand, by purchasing Straight Shot.

Jim Drew is a jackass IMO, I guess this is just another reason to get rid of my WAS board and go Tadao.

absolutely the most fallacious statement I've ever heard. cyclone feed is neat, but the 98c brings SO littel for so much money. I'm telling you, Icon Zs and Paradoxes should rule the under 100 1st gun market.

Tippmann is one of the few companies who makes actually innovative and breakthrough/revolutionary products. Unlike the rest who wait for a good product to come out so they can clone it and steal profits without putting any R&D into it.

So it's actually one of the most apt statements ever.

Jim Drew has nothing to do with this. He sold the company a while ago. After that WAS encorporated ramp modes in their board.
