Lock Dead Threads?

I was just viewing another website, http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/, and they are running vBulletin Version 3 and I just noticed that all the threads prior to August 05 all seem to be locked in a particular forum of theirs. The threads all seem to be valid threads yet they are all locked.

I am thinking this could help with newer members/trolls from upping dead threads if threads that are older than X months are locked. Heck, I remember two or so months ago that a thread I posted on with my previous account was brought back from the dead.

I understand that this may become a problem with stickied threads that are open ended, but if one of those threads have not been posted in for X amount of months... It sounds like an open and closed book. A moderator could unlock said threads of course.

Just a suggestion.

It sounds like to much work for the mods though, that is, tedious.

Although, I am talking about ST-OSST. I have no clue concerning Newbie forum.

I'm pretty sure he is saying that locking the thread after XX/XX/XXXX is a feature in vB3 that is done automatically and not manually.

Since ST main page probably makes about 2 pages worth of threads on a slow day, that would be killer on us.

For us, its not people bringing back threads from that long ago. They bring up dead threads from a couple of months earlier. It doesnt really happen that often so its pretty easy for us to keep a handle on.

For newb forum you would have to talk to electraman7.

Isn't there just a function of VB3 where you can have any thread older than a month closed? I'm sure Tony/Kyle or someone else could make a hack for it.

Not that I recall.

I've developed a method of archiving inactive threads and their posts that I'll be rolling out in the near future.

Ahh. So it's the mods getting down and dirty and closing the threads themselves? I figured it was an options built into Vb3.

- I'm not going to say anything else bcaus im tired and my typing and spelling is crap.
