But once AMD comes out with it's next gen CPU's, it will own Intel once again.
I don't think so. I mean Intel really destroyed AMD. Not even AM2 will will get them out of this whole. Not to mention AMD doesn' hit 65nm till late this year.
i wouldnt say AMD has been raped now that intel has hit back. amd/intel, ati/nvidia will be exchanging blows for as long as they are around. in a few months you will have to post another "OMG raped" thread. competition is good.

and those are amazing scores!
Good competition is +/- 20%. Rapage is when your top CPU gets loses by 40% to a mainstream CPU. Yup, 2.66 won't even be the highest clocked Conroe.
You don't even see what AMD has to offer. Don't make assumptions, just yet.
btw, intel has a real ****ty attitude... and obviously so do their fan boys.
I know exactly what AMD has to offer. K8/K9 (AMD's current arch)will be around for another year or so. AM2 will bring no performance increase until AMD hits 65nm which will be late this year or early 07. Intel will have the performance crown for atleast 8 months.
I also don't know how well the A64 will scale when AMD hits 65nm. I can't see them going much over 3.2ghz. Even then they will still get beat by EE versions of conroe.
And god help you if you called me fanboy. I am one most unbiased people on this site.
Still, the fact that intel has an entirely NEW generation of processors, and the comparison of AMD's current generation, annoys the absolute hell out of me. You cannot tell me intel is raping AMD, due to the fact, that the only reason those two processors are getting benched is, because AMD's chip is currently has the best performing chip in retail.
Im glad intel finally got their heads out of their ***** when they realized that their chip was getting demolished by their own competitor's same gen processor. And the same time of next year, when each company is on the same ground, in terms of technological advances, only then you can truly judge, in my eyes.
In my own opinion, I think VIA should come in and start competition up with both of em.

The thing is with fanboys, the minute you question their precious company they call you a fanboy. The fact of the matter is, AMD won't be able to give Conroe a run for the money for some time. I haven't owned an Intel CPU for years and I can admit they are going to be the leaders for awhile, but AMD will inevitably strike back.

OH, Im sorry does my inferiority to you great computer lords, keep you from talking directly to me?
I'm willing to admit, that I do admire AMD for their work and respectable attitude. I understand that they kicked intel while they were down, with the P4 and XEON line, but thats nothing compared to what intel has done to them. They deserved it, they were the best, and that was their chance for retaliation.
Anyways, advances in processing power is good for me, the consumer, no matter what. I seriously don't care who is best, nor lose sleep over it, Im just trying to say intel's raping of AMD isn't justified. Oh yeah, and I hate intel.
donut is right. even tho AM2 is coming out, i dont believe it will take back the performance crown like the A64 series did. im just going to wait until they move to a 65 nanometer core. even then i still dont think id upgrade, im going to wait a few months after Dx10 comes out to then make my decision as to what is the more logical choice among processors.

Its about damn time. I dont really have a preference between both companies, which ever one is cheaper and better performing is what is important. Intel had been losing in the Dual core market for a while against the X2s which pretty much killed all of Intels processors. But I guess now their back in it. And like everyone is saying, Intel will be on top for quite a while. AMD's AM2 series processors wont show that much of an increase, if at all to the current ones. AMD will also just start to use DDR2 RAM which Intel has some expierience with already.
This really isnt that amazing though, because this kind of thing seems to happen a lot. For example, Nvidia owned the graphics market with the 7800 series, ATI tried to sell the x1800 seriies which pretty much failed IMO, then Nvidia came out with the 7800 512 which wasnt in stock anywhere, then ATI came back with the x1900 series which pretty much blew everything away, and now Nvidias trying to come back with the 7900.
These markets are pretty much back and forth. Not much you could do if your looking to buy anything, just buy the best and hope that it doesnt get out dated too quick.
Oh, and another thing, since Intel pretty much sponsored the Digital Life expo at the Javitz center, Intel > AMD because I just got a $50 check from them for winning an open mini tournament for Battlefront 2 which happened every 10 minutes. Even though it was in October and I JUST recieved the check, better late than never.
Damn, that's a pretty staggering difference. I might have to jump on the Intel boat next time I upgrade.
How long do you guys think that a 3200+ will last me in terms of performance?
I would say as long as you can play the games you want? I mean I have a 5 year old dell with a 2ghz P4 32 mb graphics card, 768 ram, I KNOW its outdated mainly because in CS 1.6 i have trouble with the smokes lol
Edit: I just realized something. AMD does have one ace up its sleeve. It still has rights to IBM's 65nm technolgies. IBM was able to scale 65nm all the way to 4ghz on their PPC's. If AMD use that tech it could very well rape Intel right back.
