Question on barrel Length???

On a mag barrel, where do you measure the length from?

Is it from tip to end? or is it from tip to where the ball enters barrel?

What length barrel would be good for a mini-mag?
Is 14" to long?

Thanks for any help or insight you can provide!!!!!!

I believe it's tip to right were the barrel actually begins in front of the breech. As far as length that's up to you. A 10" barrel will shoot the same as a 14" barrel. The 14" may be a tad less gas efficient but that's it. I generally like 12"-14" barrels myself.
