Question What would you do?

Ok I asked this question at another forum and they weren't very much help, so here goes.

Ok I'm not sure if I'm gonna get a Matrix but I'm definitely looking close into it because I really want one. But I do have a problem. Matrixes, as we all know, are gas hogs. The obvious solution to this problem is to get a 4500 psi tank. But there's another problem. My field won't fill 4500 psi tanks. Only 3000's, which means I'd have to refill basically after every game and that is not an option for me. What are my options to solve this problem? What would you do? Please keep in mind that I don't have a scuba fill station for many miles.

Thanks for any responses.

get an anti sphoned co2 tank you get a whole lot more shots out of those. I heard the Matrix runs really well off of it.

Nah I hate CO2. Even the best quality will dirty up the internals way too fast. Nitro only.

Nice try though. Any other suggestions?

well you have a couple of options

you could:
1) get a 114/3k tank

2) get a co2 tank..... trust me on this... i have been one who has spoken out against using co2... i used it before and it froze my gun up.... well im not so sure i want a bigger tank....i think im going to try and get a bottomline max flo from an impulse and run one of those 88 or 68 ci co2 tanks into it.....the maxx flo is great for co2 usage..and those tank are antisiphoned

Scuba_Steve: Yes they have a thing where you pay a certain amount of money and you can have as much gas as you want for the whole day. Still, having to get the tank filled after every single game would be HORENDOUSLY annoying.

Brando's Matrix: The second closest field to me is a drive of over an hour and a half.

Fatal_Swoop: Thanks for the info on CO2 but it's still not an option for me. Even with a Max Flow, the solenoid is very prone to dirt from CO2 and in the long run, could cause malfunction.

I have another question. It said in the FAQ about an in-line regulator mod to help prevent the forward bolt stick. What mod is he talking about?

Thanks for the help guys. Really appreciate it.

The trinity reg is supposed to help with bolt stick.
You can also get a tourney or cypher chip. An
o-ring kit is the first thing to get, though. Get one
of the new bolt kits when they come out.

How many shots do you go thru on average per game?
I can fire off about 750 shots and still have about 700
psi left (depending on how good the fill was) with an
88/3000 tank. Now I know you said co2 isn't an option,
but almost the whole Aardvark team runs their guns off
co2. Aardvark does & he's the designer of the gun. He
adimantly backs co2 on the matrix (antisiphon of course).
Just ask DKD or Fatty(on the Aardvark team). Hey, with a
68/3000 converted to co2, you get over 1000 shots.

Fatty how would the matrix operate on this setuP?????

Maxx flow bottom line (off Impulse)
68 or 88 ci anti siphoned co2 tank

would the gun freeze?

the co2 would be double regulated (maxx flo & bee hive)

LMK i may do this....

i run a 88ci 45K dynaflow and at my field they only fill to 3000 on non tourney days. i fill every 2nd or 3rd game depending on how much paint i shoot. i really don't find it an inconvenience. whenever i play tourneys all my team refills their tanks after every game and not everyone on the team runs a matrix. what's so inconvenient about filling air anyway???

before i got my new conquest tank i was running my matrix with a 68/3000 maxflow and had very good results. I had to refill after every game but For the preformance of how the guns shoots and the fast i don't like bigger the 68 tanks i'm stuck but i think it's just worth it to get filled after every game.

whats so bad about getting your tank filled before every game? i run an 88/4500 which gives me like 1200 shots, and i still refill after everygame. it takes about 10 seconds to fill my tank, and yours holds like half the air. its really not much of a waste of time if you ask me. your only other option is the aardvark bolt kit.

this is just me, but you seem picky. you konw you cant get a 4500, you refuse to use co2, and you dont want to refil a 300 after each game (which isnt that big of a deal i must say). if you refuse to do any of the above, then i say dont get a matrix.

Yeah, i refill after every game... it's no biggy. Of course i own my own big *** bulk tank fill station which i take with me when i play, but that's besides the point.

Well, I've tried a couple things.

Anti-siphon co2 20oz to the beehive. It ran great, reg gets cold though. BUT, it runs great. Very consistent, maybe 10 fps drop if the reg is suitable to make sno-cones.

Anti-siphon co2 20oz to female Stab to beehive. Runs even better. The stab freezes before the beehive, and when you chrono off, there is never a drop in fps.

Siphon 53ci co2 to stab to beehive. Variance of 10 +- fos over the chrony. Freezes up pretty quick, but 500 rounds later, the gun is STILL Breakin balls on people across field.

I'm going to setup a ASA Maxflo tomorrow hopefully, if my vert ASAs come in. If not, I'll run the maxflo solely for co2 absorption, and then the beehive to regulate afterwards. I'll be using this setup in 2 tourneys this weekend, I'll keep you updated.

CO2 is just so damned good for the Matrix. You have no idea. It runs so incredibly smooth. And yeah, our whole team runs co2. All Matrices, all co2, all good.

Aardvark (gun's designer) has been running co2 on his gun for almost 2 years. He has the same solenoid as he did 2 years ago, same board, same everything (except the new bolt kit ).

CO2 is to be trusted, cared for and loved. Do not speak harshly of it, as it never would of you. Use it, love it, and be merry with your Matrix.

Dave

Ok first of all, I'd like to thank everyone for their responses.

Trust me. I'm not trying to be picky. I WOULD get a 4500 psi tank if my field would fill that. But they won't. That's the problem. As for CO2, I hate it because it's just not a clean gas! Even the best quality CO2 leaves a nasty residue behind that could impair the solenoid and other internals in the long run. That's my main concern.

As for filling a tank after every game, I don't know how you guys do it. Maybe it's because I'm so use to playing game after game after game without walking back to the staging area every time. I can get about 1200 shots from my low pressure 'Cocker and I just don't have to get it refilled that often at all. I guess I'm just so much of an effeciency junky, that refilling after every game would just seem like such a huge pain to me.

I think what I'm gonna end up doing is getting a larger tank. 88ci at the smallest. Then maybe look into the effeciency bolt when it's released.

So do the new Matrixes have the bugs worked out? Are they very dependable with the right upgrades?

Again, thanks for everyones help.

Make sure you get your matrix from a reliable source. Ask the following questions:

New Solinoid or old?
Pewter or Rubber grips?
Push button on/off or switch?

Basically you want to make sure you get one with a new solinoid and a switch on off without the LED if possible. The newer push button ones are for now, slower than the older switch models so get the switch or wait a couple of months until the new chip gets circulating.

nothing wrong with a big tank

but hey...if fatty's whole crew rusn their guns off co2, you shouldn't worry... the only thing you need to do is get a killer setup going..(which is what i am contemplating)
