Geek Chip Questions

Are PIC chips flashable (i.e., could I download software off the net and -- with the right device to hook up to my PC -- put it on a chip that I already have)? If so, how much are PIC chip plugin stations for a PC?

Who programs the Matrix chips? Aardvark?

Erm... Aard chips cannot be reprogrammed, nor can they be copied. That is why the new boards are garbage

Aardvark does the chips.

PICs

PICs are programmable. I believe you can get a programmer for around $200.
Check out http://www.microchip.com

There may be a way to write-protect the processor, I'm not really sure. I'm sure you could just buy a new chip, program it and drop it in though. They're not very expensive.

Fatty, why are the new boards garbage?

Then new chips simply don't have the technology or performance that the old ones did. The newer models are noticeably slower.

The new ones do not have the power-saving auto shutoff like the original ones do........

And some people have incredibly slow rates of fire, when its set at 14 or whatever bps. There are VARIANCES in rof with the same settings.

We have aftermarket chips for the new boards, but we haven't fully tested them yet to be able to say if it brings the new boards up to par with the old ones.
