Ick....I would NEVER buy a sony DSLR, their Quality control is abysmal, not to mention they seem to have catastrophic design flaws with half of the stuff they sell (especially consoles, but their PC's and even walkmans suffer from problems too)

EDIT: Not to mention that they would most likely incorporate all sorts of proprietary crap that only their cameras would use. (Memory stick Pro Duo)

Minolta is KNOWN for their medium format and large format FILM cameras. Their digital are touch and go, and they are certainly not known for digital quality, but thats not to say its a bad place to start if you are just getting into the field.

Their lenses were excellent, especially for the price. They also offered affordable AS. They brought quite a few inovations to digital photography, not to mention Minolta's impact on film over the course of time.

Sad news in my eyes, hopefully Sony will not fail them?
