How to: Take apart the 05' Pilot; bolt mod explanation

since i keep seeing threads on how to change the trigger pull, take out the rear coc.king bolt etc etc i decided to make a thread about it to help people here we go...

The gun:
05' Spyder Pilot at least i think its 05, i ordered it last month lol.

From the top: Feedneck removal
The feedneck comes off with 2 screws, simple.

Rear c.ocking bolt:
The bolt comes off by pulling on the rod that sticks out of the top, if you look at the gun from the back

You will see you need to remove the bolt that goes through the main bolt, body so it doesn't fly out when you shoot, this is easily done, all the guns come with a quick disconnect pin, really its crappy and mine fell out so i put a keyring in, instead. So take out whatever it is thats in the bolt, and slide it out

Now that its out

"Coc.k" the gun and pull it so the bolt goes all the way back. Once it does that, you have to pull for your life ( depending how strong you are) to get that rod out.
As you can see(at the top in this picture, but bottom in the gun) there is a round part

When it drops into the bolt there is a ball holding it, so you have to break the seal.

So once its all out it'll look like this

And work on what you want from there. Also if you have trouble taking out the cocking bolt you can try and loosen the screw on the end of the bolt and then pull it out.

Lastly Trigger pull and such

If you turn the gun upside down and look infront of the trigger you will see a hex bolt like this

Lefty loosey, righty tighty rule applies, turn it to the right, shorter trigger pull becomes, more to the left, longer it becomes.

If you look right under the switch there is a little bludge that sticks out from the trigger, i dont really know what it is but im guessing its to tweak the trigger, i put it out all the way on mine and made the trigger pull almost as short as it can go, for me anyway this works really well, the bottom part is like a stopper so i can walk it pretty quick. Try it, see if it works for you.
You adjust it by turning this, same left loose right tight.

And that is how you take apart your spyder pilot, and do trigger adjustments

Also a little explaination on the bolt mod, on otters site that ms paint pic isnt every discriptive. If you look at the mouth of the bolt you will see a bit of a taper around the edge i think thats a little more understandable then just in a paint picture lol also, i think kingman have been reading otter's site because that bolt came like that from the factory so its been professionally machined not sanded.

the top bolt has been a problem for many; they just cant pull it out. the ball bearing holds the pin in under pressure from a spring.

idea: (havent tried this; my bolt is in reno right now), look at the back of your bolt. some of us (removable pin bolts), will see a small screw. turn that screw to the left once or so. in theory that will make it easier to take out your bolt.

btw, good job. i think someone deserves a cookie.

not for just a pilot. maybe we can make an official take apart thread, but i dont think a sticky is in the business plan. i had an official LP thread, which sucked. and there is an official blue bolt thread and a t-board thread, but neither of those got a sticky. would've been cool though. maybe we can just have the thread anyways, and then we can put a bunch of links in our sigs (like a mini sticky). haha.

edit: but we need to add "official" to the title. and maybe change some wording to draw hopeless young guns to click on it, only to find that they didnt get what they wanted, take it out on someone else, get a ban, make a new name, and start over again.

but really....."Official"

What's that O-ring for in the pic where you take out the bolt? I took my bolt out and I didn't know whether it was for the striker or the bolt itself.

thats the striker buffer it goes infront of the striker and the spring slides inside it. oh ya and i've seen a few threads on where to clean the gun from paint. heres a pic the ball detent is on top and the feedneck is off so you can get a good look where paint might be, even on my gun i have a bit of paint where the detent goes

by the way when you remove the feedneck theres little washers on the screws so make sure not too lose them.

Open the grip and push on the silver plate (should push to the left) so that the hammer can slide in.

thanks!
edit:
If your gun is going click click, bang. and you have checked

a) battery is charged and no loose connections
b) co2 is plentiful
c) possibly needs to be oiled
then try...this
a gun may not fire if there is too much of a gap between the solenoid and where it makes the connection to fire. So you take a nickel too shorten the gap. here are the pics
Ok so heres a bit of an explanation. the picture is upside down but my light source is far away so i wanted too get a clear picture for you guys so work with me...The big round thing in the center is the solenoid, to the left is what goes back and fourth (thats what you put the nickel behind) and to the right you will see a box looks white but its just the flash, and its on an angle a bit, well thats what makes the gun shoot.

so by putting a nickel behind it, it makes it straight and shortens the gap. And then your gun should fire.

Thats all for now folks, theres always more too come in time!

i was browsing the kingman site looking for a manual lol i lost mine and i came across how the ACS bolt actually works, i find it pretty interesting and if its really like that then its great.
go here
http://www.spyder.tv/section/product...acs/index.html
click the moving bolt a new window pops up and you can click normal bolt and ACS bolt and see how they differ.

got a few new dodads on my gun this NDZ feedneck owns. i like how it is "rifled" in a sense inside so it grips the plastic neck of the hopper good.
