Canon S2

im lookng to get a camera in this price range, and my previous experiences with canon lead me to this....is there, for the price, a better camera, or go with this...

i have played with it, and i like it..

what i will shoot..

cars, nature, vacation and such, the occasional paintball shot, nothing magazine worthy, just memories.....

with the slight chance this will turn into a hobby...but mainly, memory capturing....as corny as it sounds...

search is diasbled, but ive read good reviews elsewhere, thanks

It's an amazing camera with a finnicky AF.

There are other cameras that are around the same level, but I'd say the S2 is the best.

I almost got one, but decided it wasn't proffesional looking enough to drag around europe for 3 months.

Its a fine camera. It offers manual controls for you to learn on if you do end up wanting to further yourself into the hobby.

Indeed. It's the next best thing before an entry level DSLR, and probably suits your needs better than a D50 would. Seems like it'd be perfect for you. The IS is also a very nice feature to have. Enjoy!

the S2 is an awesome P&S. The glass on that bad boy has the same concept as the L series Canon High-end Lens. They use the same glass. Only thing different about S2 and EOS is thats its doesn't have a cheangeable lens. Since your not really crazy about photography this is a great camera for you to learn on incase you want to mvoe into the higher end DSLR cameras. Good luck man...

Use manual WB to get your colors correct for one thing, or shoot RAW to fix them later. Thats a simple thing that alot of people in this forum simply don't do, and horrible pics are then posted...
