Lowering Question

I'm looking to lower my Acura TSX and was looking at the Neuspeed Sport Springs. They lower it around 1.5F and 1.0R. Anyways, is it bad to run these springs on the stock shocks? Will they blow over time?

from what i have been reading the real only time shocks get beat up when you lower a car is when you lower it a good amount (2in- on))...stock stuff should be alright for your car but check the tsx forums to make sure

It really depends on the car if you need to upgrade your shocks and struts or not. On some cars, you can just add lowering springs and keep the rest of the suspension stock for 10 years. On other cars, like mine in particular, you will need to upgrade the shocks and struts when you lower it or you will blow them out in about a month. I think you should just spend the money and get upgraded shocks with the springs. Better be safe than sorry. Not to mention, the shocks and struts will compliment the performance of the springs. You will probably want to get a camber kit too, because you might have about 1-2 degrees of negative camber.

if youre going to go all out suspension, might as well just get aftermarket struts also. it would be a pain to mount everything, then have to do it again later when your struts blow..

I would get new shocks and struts too if I were you. I have had lowering springs on stock struts and they sucked in my car. I got the weitec 60/40 cup kit and its so much better. It does depend on the car, but think about it this way. The stock struts are designed to extend far enough to work with the stock springs. By lowering the car 1.5" you are compressing the strut 1.5" also. This puts constant pressure on your struts. Lowering springs usually have a stiffer spring rate, but they will still compress. If you hit a large bump you are going to put a lot of stress on your struts, they will wear out faster and probably suck for ride quality.

i dont know how bad it will be with only lowering it 1.5/1" but i know after it greatly decreases the life of your struts. Just buy a cup kit or even coilovers...

You will need to get at least a rear camber kit and your shocks will blow over time. Also the neuspeeds in the RSX's at least leave weird uneven gaps after settling.

they should work well with the stock struts, they will say if they are made for the stock struts in the description. the ride will be stiffer and handle a little better since it will be lower the the ground (lower center of gravity). eibach also make great springs, they are one of the leaders in the industry, don't know what you guys are talking about.

i dont know if it's the same with cars but when I lowered my s-10 with springs I had to get some lowered-shocks which are basically a lot stiffer than regular ones... I would get some new shocks if I were you since you're already that much lower to the ground... I need to replace the struts and springs on my car soon... I go bouncy bouncy too muchy...

Pretty much any springs will blow over time. Just get some Koni Yellows or KYB AGX's and then some springs or go full coilover kit.

your right, I have had my koni's /Gc for over 25,000 miles an they are not blown. 16way adjustble .rebuilding Koni's is $75 per shock... KYB does not warrenty there shock for people who lower there cars more than 1.5"

i will be rocking prodrives, which are made by eibach. they are perfect for me since they are a lot stiffer in the back than normal aftermarket springs, thus fixing my suspension problem.
