Phantom Tear down and rebuild with *Pics*

Well, i keep seeing newbs saying, "How do i take apart my phantom?" For many, they are visual learners, so, i had time, i was bored to death doing my chemistry paper, that i put together a pic filled phantom teardown and put together thread. Heres what i'm taking apart....

CCI Phantom VSC

Tools and parts needed:
Clean area
3/8 allen key for the 12 gram changer
9/64 for the Breech
5/64 for the grips
a towel that is clean, but you don't care for
paintball oil

=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

First, remove the barrel, and remove the detent ring and put it in a safe spot...

Next, loosen the two thumbscrews on the front and the back of the phantom

Next, slide the main body a bit, and hold onto the pump arm, the pump arm then will come loose, put it in a safe spot.

Now, remove the main body, off of the phantom.

As you can see, within the main body, there are a total of three pieces.
There is the spring, the Tuned port compensator (TPC) and the rear most, the hammer assmbly.

In order... TPC, Spring, Hammer assmbly

Close up of the TPC (This controls your velocity, clockwise= FPS+.
c. clockwise=FPS-)

Slide the internals out and wipe them down with the towel and oil the black oring on the TPC.

Next, slide the internals back into the main body. With the TPC the black oring facing barrel side, and then followed by the spring and finally the hammer assembly.

Next, on the TPC there are two holes, One is occupied by the Nylon screw, this is what keeps the Velocity screw from backing out. And then you have is the pump hole. Attach the pump arm end to the pump guide hole.

Next, attach the barrel and hold the pump arm tightly in place.

Now, slide the main body back onto the trigger frame and gun, hold it upside down, for its much easier.

Apply slight pressure whle keeping the body and trigger frame together. Align the holes install the larger thumbscrew into the rearmost hole. Screw it down tightly, The 5/64 allen key can be used to make the thumbscrew even tighter in place.

Now, install the smaller thumbscrew in the front hole of the trigger frame, and tighten it down.

Now, you are ready to shoot it...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Heres some instructions for removing the breech. Take the 9/64 allen key and lossen the breech screw.
Take it off and wipe it down and replace.

=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
To remove the 12 gram changer, you will need the 3/8 allen key. Remove the 12 gram changer bottom, and insert the allen key into the upper receiver of the 12 gram. Turn left and loosen it.

at this same time, you might as well oil it, just a drop or two into the hole, and when you air it up, the oil will cycle through.
=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Enjoy....
=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Valve teardown
*Do this when you have a leak down the barrel, this usally clears it.*
Rear regulator and valve....
use a crescent wrench and uscew the power tube assembly away from the back counter clockwise with the wrench

in order, power tube, brass cupseal, spring

(you remove the cupseal by twisting the power tube counter clockwise away from the cupseal.)
Wipe the cupseal down, apply some oil to the oring, screw it back in and your done.

The rear thumbscrew retaining the valve does not need to be removed / loosened in order to remove the breech.

Also, I just take my phantom into the shower / sink and rinse the entire thing down, and shoot CO2 / air through it to dry it out

I do clean it out if I break in it, or get sand in it, though.

Kudos to you. Very good guide.

Thanks man, true, thr rear thumscrew isn't needed to be removed, but while you have a clean area, and tearing down the rest of the gun why not this and wipe it down. I just find it easier to do it all at the same time. Also, ApoC, if you want a christmas card, pm me your addy

A sticky means the thread stays at the top of the first page. No matter what it will always be on the first page.

I havedone the valve teardown, its relatively easy. What you do is unscrew it from the end, and you basically have is the valve assembly cosnisiting of it and a sprin, just clean off the threads a bit, and add some oil, screw is back in and done. A pic guide isn't really necessary for that, its a whole lot easier than assembling the phantom itself. Really only someone would need to do this is when they are swapping regulators or adding a bobbed end, thats when you swap the valve assembly around. I do havepics, but i'm over my pic limit. Till then, and thanks for the comments.
