oh lord! ok.so this would be your first car ever? how long have you been driving? what other vehicles ahve you driven? how good are you with a manual? if you have little to no driving experience, a high performance car is prolly not a good idea. have you done any research on it? or any other cars? why did you chose cobalt? have you test driven it yet?

its not going to be very helpful to come on here and ask what we think about it. youre the one whose going to have to drive it.

MHO-

pros: its nice car all around. good styling. nice power output. small (easier to drive in traffic). comes with discs all around i believe.

cons: could be too much for a beginner. engine bay packed hella tight. ugly wing.

i didnt mention FWD as pro or con cuz it depends on how you look at it. but for a beginner; im kinda leaning towards it being pro.

my best advice: test drive as many cars and you can get your grubby little hands on. the more, the better.

You're going to wreck it.

Now that that's out of the way. You can do a lot to them to make them a lot faster, making you get in more wrecks because you're inexperienced at driving. P.S. get a WRX.

oh why, because there's no drift shaft bring power to the rear wheels? or no dirty, puffing diesel (yes there's hypocrisy, I love me the VW TDI)? I have not driven in one, but been in one.... to GM, you hit the spot. It should offer more power, but it's fine.

YOU DON'T HAVE A VW. YOUR DAD DOES. YOU DRIVE A GRAND AM. Quit trying to make yourself sound cooler art, you're not even allowed to drive by yourself.

regardless of whether or not I have a VW, neither my dad nor I have a TDI VW. does every kid who likes the AMG 7.3 have to own one?

Nothing special... basically just a cavalier. Too fast for a first time driver, however.

That's only part of it. I found the interior horrible, the handling of the car was rather gaudy, and the power wasnt all that impressive.

All the above maybe would have helped it, but I doubt it.

I like the car. I think it looks very nice stock. Plus 215hp stock is nice in a car that small. To top it off their is a lot you can do to make it quicker without adding to much cash.

I like the car, but its to much for a first car IMO.

WRX = AWD = Makes up for lack of skill = Why I'm getting one (I'm a firm believer in "realistic thinking" )

No point in buying a performance car made for an experienced driver when you're probably not going to know how to drive it the way it should be driven.

If you think it does anything other then help you start off on wet conditions then youre dreaming. Although an experiened driver can really benefit

It's always wet here, so that's basically the skill I'm talking about.

Even though most ot the people that posted in here are idiots they are right. Your going to crash. Most teenagers do not matter how good you drive. Getting a new car isnt a really smart move at all. Yes it will be cool when you drive up to school in your brand new car and everybody is digging it but bad comes with the good. Now all that aside the Cobalt is a Cavalier. The SS is a cavalier on steriods. The cavaliar is a cheaply made car and isnt so reliable once you hit 80k... Now you might be saying welll I'm not going to hit 80,000 for like 6 years, well then in 6 years you will have nothing to drive!
