picking the songs...
Hey, I was wondering how you find/pick the songs for CK. Like did you search everywhere to find these bands and wutnot or did they send in songs to you? Thanks

Presto333 good question.
For some of you, you are hearing this music for the first time, and thats cool, but for others this music and the artists have been around for some time (not all, some artists are new). Most of the artists that are in my films are big in their own scene, like the band "jets to brazil" (from PUSH) they were a spin off from a band called jawbreaker (great band, still have their 1st 7" record). As a mater of fact I got turned on to "one line drawing" (Lang's segment in CK) at a "jets to brazil" show 4 years ago. "one line drawing" opened up for jets.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I have been in to this music for a long time and following a lot of the bands and the new ones too, so it was easy to pick the music, at least for me.

Sometimes, it's just Patrick having an open mind and trying something that a friend sends to him.

Excessive rage, maybe? Whew. So long as it was captured on tape! You can use it as leverage over them later.

I can just see Rich, all sweaty and wearing skin tight clothes, grabbing the mic from the announcer and pointing into the camera, screaming about the "Dyna-rats."

music selection, message for patrick
hey I just came across this thread, and thought I mention something that could be of interest:
There's a column in PB2X this month I wrote that touches on the process that comes into music selection and licensing, its just a basic overview of the process...both on some of the less glamorous paperwork side, and then some stuff as to what we look for in picking songs over here at Jawwbraker Central...[unfortunately it doesn't pick Patrick's brain on the matter, but oh well..]
Pat does an amazing job picking his music and I'm glad to see kids appreciate that. [Pat, how much do you want for that seven inch? is it "want?" haha]
Be sure to support those bands in some way if you can, go checkout a show of theirs, or grab or cd or buy something off I-Tunes.
thanks,
"Jawwbrakerdan"
