Yup, thats the problem. You want quality, but you don't have a unlimited account. Sucks.

Honestly, out of everything mentioned, CRKT or Gerber will be your best bet. And the cold steel knives mentioned before are over $100. And the Archangel is a butterfly I believe.

I've got the CRKT M16-14ZSF, a lot like the aluminum one you're considering. I carry it with me everyday as a general purpose knife and have been very impressed with it so far, no complaints.
