I shoot my gun in my yard occasionally. Of course I try to make sure that no one is around when Im doing it. I have had no problems so far.

Honestly if your just shooting within your yard and not hitting any property that isn't yours, I really doubt anything will happen. Worse comes to worse and some extremly anal neighbour phones the cops for whatever reasons they might have, the most I'd see them doing is giving you a warning.
