Who u think is better?(NFL Q)
Well me and my friends got into a little discussion It was: Me(Dallas Fan), Joe(Ravens Fan), and Matt(Browns(lol)fan) Matt says Dawkins is the Best Safety, I say Roy Williams(the cowboys)safety, and Joe says Edd Reid is. Who do you think is the better of those safetys?

i think overall ED reed is the best safety in the NFL, even though i AM an eagles fan. dawkins got the #2 spot.
P.S-in madden i have on my team DAWKINS, REED, TY LAW, and someone else i forget who is is but hes 92 overall. (just thought id share that)

The best free safety is Brian Dawkins. The best strong safety is Ed Reed (Roy Williams is also a SS). Dawkins can make huge plays -- even though free safeties are more about protection rather than big play capability. He's also really effective on the blitz. He has been in the probowl since 1999. He is an excellent leader and is very level headed. He was the first player in NFL history to have an interception, fumble recovery, and touchdown reception (not an interception TD) in a single game. Ed Reed was the defensive player of the year in 04 and recorded 9 interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries.
The best safety overall is (was) Ronnie Lott. No debate necessary.

Even though I am a huge cowboys fan, I have to agree with you. Williams can hit much much harder though.

Williams is a GREAT hitter! BUt his coverage is no where near as good as Reeds or Dawkins...I would have to say Reed is the best DB in the game, with dawkins a close #2....I like williams, but when it comes to coverage he cant hang with the other two...

You all do understand that free safety and strong safety are two entirely different positions and require very different roles -- right?

Roy Williams. Of course I'm biased, I'm a Cowboys fan.

Lets see here..
Dawkins- 3 Sacks, 4 INTs, 2 FF(0 recovered), 0 TDs
Reed- 2 Sacks, 9 INTs, 3 FF(2 recovered), 2 TDs
Williams- 0 Sacks, 2 INTs, 1 FF, 0 TDs
Those stats alone speak volumes about why Reed is the best DB in the league. Given he does play SS rather then FS, as far as DBs are concerned, theres no one better in the game right now then Ed Reed.
