Is there something wrong with my DM......

I am stuck in some what of a quandary with my DM7. Let me explain.

I brought my DM7 9 months ago off a mate who plays for a different team as that team had just got gun sponsorship. It was working fine. It had an orange bolt installed, which I promptly removed and put the stock one back in. Plus I removed the on/off and installed a CP flow plug. I also added a hyper 3/4 reg (love the feel of rubber) and a virtue oled board, although neither of these obviously affect the performance compared to the stock dye parts.

The marker was running a stock dwell of 18 and had the LPR 3 turns out (stock is 5 on the DM7). It shot sweet and smooth (I came from ego's) and had decent efficiency - 8 pods and a Pinokio off a 68/45.

Everything was fine until yesterday.

A good buddy of mine picked himself up a brand new DM9 after he feel in love with my DM7 (another ego convert). He didnt know much about tuning it once he had broken it in, so asked if I could help as my DM runs pretty sweet. So I read through the manual to familiarize myself with the DM9 as I know that there are a few changes between markers.

Here is where I ran into the so-called problem.

I didnt realise that the stock setting for the HPR was approx 3 1/2 turns out, which is 145psi. I haven't really had to adjust my HPR since I put it on 9 months ago and set it at 285fps (given I know more about tuning a DM now than back then). Maybe just the odd tweak here and there depending on weather (it gets a lil warm down here in Australia at times). I checked to see what my HPR was set at and it was at 2 turns out (chrono'd at 285), which according to the manual is roughly 90 - 100psi. Yet my buddy's DM9 HPR needs to be at 4 - 4 1/2 turns out (with is dwell still 18 and his LPR at 2 1/2 turns out) to achieve 285fps.

So basically;

My DM7 - HPR 2 turns out (90-100psi), LPR 3 turns out (55psi) and dwell of 18 results in 285fps.

My Buddys DM9 - HPR 4 1/2 turns out (180ish psi), LPR 2 1/2 turns out (60-65psi) and dwell of 18 results in 285fps.

We are both using the same barrel set up (stock UL) and paint from the same box and over the same chrono. Is there something wrong with either DM? I know every marker is different and that there are a couple of ways to tune a DM. It just threw me that they were vastly in settings to achieve the same velocity and relatively similar kick etc.

Maybe I am just reading too much into it all......................

ya the new hyper 3 reg has a lot finer tuning, so it takes more turns to reach the same pressure as a hyper 2.

There was a post not long ago about making a reg tester.

Check your reg seat to make sure it's not cut in that cause you to adjust more or less with both hpr and lpr. There is also a good post further down on checking your oring of your brass screw.

But otherwise. If it's shooting and working fine, don't worry to much about it

1 thing u do have to remember is the internals are both a little differnt from the 7 to 9.. that could b effecting the actual number of turns the gun uses to get the correct pressure.. *one reason i never tune my gun by "turns" all by feel and pressures*.

only way to know exactly the difference is, is by doing wat they suggested geting a reg tester. i would try to relube and change out orings in both regs aswell at the reg seats. then move to the bolts. aswell as the lpr might need a service.

Everything in the HPR and LPR is fine. It has all been checked and re-checked. The markers are both regularly serviced. I realise that there are differences between the DM7 and DM9 and didnt for once instant expect them to be identical. Was just posting up to see what people thought and / or insight people might be able to share inregards to perhaps tuning or something.

The joys of the internet I guess..........................
