Depends. If the mask is BNIB, then that may work, but if it's ever been used, the surface to be painted needs to be clean/degreased thoroughly. If it's smooth you may consider lightly ruffing it with a 'Scotch Bright' pad or maybe steel wool?
I may have posted these before but not sure. Anyway, here's some i3's I did ~yr ago and they have held up well. I airbrushed them with paint from a local hobby shop - with no flex agent in the paint. These are stock black i3 frames. I did a lite coat of white, then 2-3 lite coats of color allowing ~hr drying time for each coat 'cause it was cool weather. I only wear these every now and then and don't transport them in a gear bag. I've also never removed the lens since putting it in after painting them.
