Painting Proto Eye Cover

Well I don't know if anyone has made a thread about doing this but since I'm doing it and this is a first time doing something like this for me so I thought it might be nice. Any things you might want to add feel free I really don’t care. I’m going to go step by step on how I did it.

I used two things to do this Rust-Oleum Specialty Plastic Primer and Rust-Oleum Metallic which I bought at Home Depot (I couldn’t find krylon fusing and the guy said it was like that so I thought I might give it a try since I was at Home Depot and didn’t feel like going some where else). You can also use krylon fusing I think thats what it's called right?

Ok, step one:

Find a nice open area to put the eyes on and put a piece of paper or two underneath it if you want

Step two:

Take the plastic primer and spray down the outside (spray about two feet away from the eye covers)

Step three:

Let it dry over night (make sure you let it dry because if you put it on to early you well get a tiny bit of paint around the outside of your eyes and rubber ball dents)

Step four:

Now take the color of your choice and spray it the same way you did with the primer

Step five: Let it dry over night (make sure you let it dry because if you put it on to early you well get a tiny bit of paint around the outside of your eyes and rubber ball dents)

Step six: Repeat steps four and five

Step seven:

Spray on the clear coat the same way you did with the spray paint but you can let the first coat dry for 20 minutes then do the second coat and leave it over night

my advice is spray some clear coat on it for protection, otherwise it could scratch.

Yeah, tomorrow I'm going to go to Home Depot to get a clear coat spray to spray on the eye cover and I will add it to the steps ...

EDIT: No it wont work for DM5 eye covers those are metal eye covers the proto eye cover is plastic

yea, very nice... if your doing color you will not get the tint you want with 1 coat... so do VERY thin coats with 5 minutes between each coat until you are satisfied with the color. but do not overdo it because the paint will run
and what are you coming to NC for?

EDIT : it is ideal to paint the eye covers somewhere well vented that has little to no wind (i.e. a garage with the door open)
