Firing mode for the upcoming 2015-2016 season?

Anybody know what the firing mode will be for the upcoming season?

I'm sure there will release that information soon. Probably in August.

I would probably start practicing with the NXL format. I really doubt the NCPA would continue using a now outdated firing mode.

We're going to go with having 20 splatmasters at each event and just rotate the guns out every point, reloading the guns off the field while the other set is used on the field. Free paint though.

Is limited paint going to be a reality for us?

Watch the M500 exhibitions and nation's cups from the Millennium series this year.

Great paintball being played with limited paint. It's not a bad idea at all to keep paintball alive in the college world.

I hope not, but a cheaper format could mean easier entry for new clubs, and long term sustainability for existing clubs (and growth within for those existing clubs).

The biggest concern with retaining talented speedball players, and attracting new ones, is the cost of competition, which combined with the cost of travel might exceed the amount that particular players are willing to spend on playing.

Even with fundraising and help from the school, it can still be hard for players on a fixed or low college income.

These are the amount of teams at each years national championship taken straight off appa. This is both class A and AA combined.

2004: 45

2005: 40

2006: 37

2007: 38

2008: 45

2009: 70

2010: 67

2011: 71

2012: 63

2013: 55

2014: 67

2015: 71

This past year we tied the record for the most teams. College paintball is alive and well. So I don't see why we would change something when the league is doing better than ever.

That's certainly better than the industry as a whole.

10bps and keep the class A format the same. I wouldn't care if they did something different with AA however. Race to 2 is getting old, but I understand its meant to be a cheaper format for teams who struggle with funding.

just my 2 cents

Race to 2 is not only cheaper but also requires fewer people. A team can compete with only a straight line of 5 and no need for people in the pits. I'm not a big fan of it, but it serves its purpose and it is still fun.
I think a Race to 3 or 4 X-Ball format could be more fun but also not as expensive as Class A X-Ball. But I don't see that drastic of change before August or September.
Now we have 4 cents of opinions.

Wouldnt mind a race-to-3 format, where 2 sets of teams play alternating points.

I like this. The waiting period between points in the current format is ridiculously long.

Exactly that's the biggest problem I have with Race to 2 is the long waiting period in between points. You completely lose all the momentum you had when you win a point

I think AA could benefit from some sort of split-deck style race-to 2. Would still give the same number of games but in four short matches instead of a drawn out triple round robin. With the extra time between points teams would still be able to survive without a pit crew.
