pretty big most likely cause keep in mind you would have to have other stuff in there like and air compressor . snack area , lockers maybe .. and a area to sit down and chill.

My teammates and I have been tossing the idea of building an indoor Reball facility around here...this is a perfect thread for us. Not trying to hijack it, so to further clarify his previous question (and to help us out in the meantime) does anyone here own an indoor facility? If so, what is the square footage of it and how many fields do you have located inside the building?

Most indoor fields are lucky to get one field in...the REALLY nice ones have 1 full size field in. And as far as I know there are only 5 places in the US that have 2 or more indoor fields.

Whatever size field you want you need at least 2.5 times that amount of space. Remember, staging areas take up about the same amount of space as a field (even moreso if you want to run tourny's) then pro-shop, fills, ect....takes up the other part. If you want a 100 x 120 field (5 man/xball) you should prolly bank on 30,000 square feet.

A local place around here have 2 fields. One "hyperball" [it's pretty big] and 1 3 man airball field. They also have a proshop, staging area, bathrooms and an outdoor field.

www.stlindoor.com

full size xball field, 7man field, and soon a 3man field. Plus, full size proshop, 26 ft. projection screen tv with theatre area, 2 HUGE airsoft fields in the back, and tons of extra room.

they are asking what the best size field would be for 5man XBALL....

NOT where you play and how good of a field they have.

Personally I would recommend a field size of around 120'x100'. Then you will have to take into account how much space you need for staging, bathrooms, fill area, etc. Guess the overall size depends on how big you want to go. for just the field, 120x100 would be ideal.

We run 110 x 90 and it works great with 30 bunkers. We even practice 7 man on it.Makes the games extremely aggressive.

The biggest complaint I hear about indoors is that the walls are too close to the tapelines. I've thought about looking into researching the effect of shrinking an existing field 10' in width in order to distance the netting & tape from the walls. I'd bet the player would sense a bigger playing field. Use the additional 5' on the sides for staging or spectators.

Lighting is so often overlooked, too. Ceiling height is of major importance to minimize shadows and dark spots.

I know many players who would gladly give up a larger field for better turf, lighting, and off-field facilities.

Contact Furrhead on PBN, he used to run a tiny field in Illinois -- the biggest complaint was always the turf and lighting.
