why did it take so long...

my only question is why has it taken so long to produce a capable marker for under 300? the technology has been around forever (paintball years). so i do have to give thumbs up for Smart Parts to finally provide a quality marker for all us workin class stiffs.
I have only had mine for a week and i have been playing ball for 7 years, and i must say i love it so far. easy to work on, understand, and maintain. inexpensive, fast, and accurate...what else could ya want. (besides free of course)

The Ion seems to have become a favorite everywhere and has taken the high-end marker by surprise

Actually the bko accomplished this goal. But since SP is such a bigger name, the hype just shot this little pos into crazy sales.
Also suing the other companies helped as well. More money for r&d.

And now that the ion is out, quality is no longer a factor for people. Hell, if you can make paintball gun with rebound and eyes for under 250$, your practically a made man. It can be made out of balsa wood for all people care, as long as it "RiPPS!!!"

anyways, mechs for life, holla back.

Sounds like someones pissed off that a GOOD QUALITY $300 gun can easily outperform they're expensive mech gun in every way, shape and form.

SP didnt have to make a $1500 quality marker. they cut corners to save costs. probably part of the whole marketing thing. prove the basic mechanics of the gun works, and works well. then wait for people like Sithos and Nicad and many others start making a straight kick *** gun. next, the gun is turning heads which in turn sells more, etc etc

SP didnt need to give it everything. they kept costs very low to make this, but you know what? i dont have the numbers to prove it, but i bet they made more in the short time its been out than any other gun. its been out 5 months, and what 30k probably alot more have been sold?

Sithos, just curious, but did you have to pay SP royalties, or even get approval to do your Element?

Actually ions are very low quality, the aluminum is of realy low quality and the machining is really poor.

Apperently you know nothing about machining, and metal working. Smart parts did not do a good job with the matel especially the threads.

Born2Drive2- I am not dissing the ion, I have one and use it, and the only problems I have had is the low quality of the threading, otherwise it has worked great.
