alright all i wanted to know is if it was possible because it would make it easier. Its not that I am so lazy that I need to get a tippmann. I lube my gun often. So I guess if you have to lube the orings anyway it doesn't make a difference.

And if you tell me "well it lowers your pressure" I swear to god I will snap.

But the stems weren't made of delrin. They were snapping where the delrin and aluminum met. I should know. Happened to me. And the reason this was happening was because of how the bolt stop worked. It put a helluva lot of pressure on that stem. The bolt stop in the Ion is in the front of the bolt, not at the back.

didnt some dude mill another slot for a o ring to seal off the dump valve or w/e, he did it on his stock bolt and it performed the same as the orange

I'm not sure if anyone has helped you but I'll go at it anyway ~

There are a few factors that would give you a 20-40% increase in efficienct. The orange bolt is in no way a copy of the stock bolt, the Orange bolt has 3 tail o-rings which seal off the chamber during a shot. This means two things. A.) Improved effiency because less air used B.) Much better consistancy because there will be no more messing around with your dwell time. Think dm4/5/proto, all you do is raise your dwell until your velocity stops going up. That's it. The perfect dwell. I know I would like to never have to sit around and play with dwell again. Anyway, the Orange bolt is 2/3rds the weight of the stock, so you're gonna get some lower kick and higher potential cycle rates. I would imagine this bolt is higher flowing so you can possibly drop your OP pressure a tad, which I would imagine would help effiency.

All in all, the orange bolt should work absolute wonders for the Ion. In theory it will, but the finished product will tell.

I think I get the orange bolt once it comes out, but does anyone know if 20% better efficiency means you'll use 20% less air or does it translate differently. Although either way thats a BIG improvement.

Meaning you'll get 20% more shots than you are right now.

man you must be pretty lazy if you don't even have the effort to take apart your gun and lube the thing up.

And that equals out to about 1-2 pods at the most. That's hardly an "OMG SO MUCH MORE PAINT" upgrade.

Thats what I said ealier. Its just that it would make it easier beacause I have the stock shell. I never said I was lazy I said I didn't like messing around with lube. You dont have to flame me for being lazy. And beside the purpose of the thread was IS A DELRIN BOLT POSSIBLE.

Thanx to everyone who answer and/or suggested other bolts.

the Orange bolt is also a better flowing bolt and i believe it is open-faced.....but don't quote me on that.

Yes, it's a spool valve. just like the matrix. they are both spool valves but have a different way of moving the bolt forward. the matrix uses solenoid air both ways and the ion uses op pressure forward solenoid pressure back. both spoolvalves, but one 'blows' forward and the other doesn't.

Althouth I see that you cant use a delrin bolt in an ion everyone said that you still need to lube the o-rings on a delrin bolt but my friends delrin bolt for his dragon doesnt have o-rings. so it is completely self lubricating.

The Ion isn't a spool valve gun.
It's a blow-forward design, similar to the Automag.
