i've tried searching and i might not have put in the right string of words to find an answer but can someone tell me (preferably with validation) what the best combo of springs would be?
i have a 2k2 vert feed cocker all stock internally with a ccm pump kit and ans quickfire if that makes a difference.
its not necessarily the spring combo that makes a gun, a well tuned one does. but, might i ask what are you actually trying to achieve? if we know that then maybe we can suggest a combo for you. then u should tune accordingly
alright well i just want more out of the gun other than the stock set of springs. honestly couldnt tell you what id prefer (efficiency vs. lighter pull vs. no farting sounds). im interested in what works for people today and a reason why.
a full length blue main spring is the most stable of all. minimal "twang" sounds. I try and set everything else such that the main spring remains nearly uncompressed when at rest.
blue valve spring minimized farting.
very low pressure makes things unstable
In general I regulate around 375psi - with the setting on the main spring as the main priority.
I'm surprised here, everyone typically says blue valve green main. Whats with the shift guys?

Seems like each color jump in mainspring roughly equates to 125psi of input pressure: red will want 475-500, blue 350-375, green 225-250. On a pump, lower just means quieter, so there's no real caveats to running mid-pressure.
Or you can be a looney and run a Rocket Valve and a yellow main (160psi), like me.
edit: remembered the caveat: stiffer pump stroke with stiffer mainspring. But having guns here with all of the weights of mainspring, it's not much of a difference, really.

does yours fart? I'm having issues with mine (most likely related to the whole trying to tune it just before playing with it).

It doesn't. But to get it not to, I had to go to the lightest mainspring I could, dial the IVG all the way out, and fabricate a hammer 1/3 lighter than a stock hammer.

you definitely did a lot of work for that fix lol.
aside from your set up though, which i cant replicate, is blue valve/green main the most popular? is there a site or guide that explains the springs a bit more?
No site that will explain , Blue Valve / Green Main is good. Blue/Green has a nice POP sound. Try green Green , Ivg 2-3 turns in. Put the IVG 2 turns in and sweetspot the reg , then fine tune with IVG.
How are you runiing it? Like what reg and what pressure u runing the reg and how many turns in. I learned from exp tonite that Blue Valve + Green Main = I had to sweetspot my reg and 2 turns in on the Ivg was at 200 then 3 turn 220 took 6 turns to get to the rite Fps
So i would go with Green/Green , Ill let you know how it works when i put it in.

6 turns for field velocity, sounds like my superbolt. I think they didnt make the hole between the 2 tubes big enough, I'm going to check that out on wednesday.

Alright so i used Green Valve Green Main today and it was great! Smooth and light stroke. Not sure what reg was at but ivg was 3 turns in and i was shooting 272-278 , This was with Brand new Springs to (not broken in at all)
Was Also efficient 150 +/- of a 13/30 but my paint was kinda smaller than my barrel just a bit so it couldve been better.
if your using a reg the green maddman springs are still WAY too hard
honestly the Check it LP springs(its what they call them, there silver) might be the best ones if they are lighter than old school Yellow springs
it used to be from hardest to lightest
Red Blue Green Yellow
then Freeflow Shocktech and KAPP all make Cocker spring kits
that were all the same color, either silver or brown
FYI all cocker spring kits started out as Nelson spring kits
the cocker used a smaller OD Main springs than Nelsons, and shorter Valve spring nelsons. the problem with that is those old WGP springs where harder than Red springs, because they were made for non regged guns.
so they sold the nelson hammer kit that used the larger nelson springs, so you has the wide range of spring tensions
the green springs in my madman kit wher about the same as my stock wgp springs, but it was from o2 and they had alot of us that may have softened them up
