Question on removing reg

Ok so I am somewhat in the market for a new tank and have seen the adds on the micro maxflow. It sounds as if they arent loctiting their bottle to the reg and its safe. Is this true? What has changed from the attitude that it had to be red loctited on? I have heard a little that one or two others have followed with regs that are easily removable. Can anyone give me some info as to what the deal is with being able to easily remove a reg and on what all models it is available? I love the idea of being able to buy a single reg you love and then swapping bottles to fit the days play. If you are playing front you toss a 45/45 on. If you play back or limited air then a 92 or even a 114 for those woodsball days.

PS I know this has to have been answered more than once here before and Im sorry for reasking it. I would have searched but there are too many people on. I looked through the first 5 pages and didnt see anything so I figured I would just make a new post.

makes it easier to take on planes because you have to take the reg off to send them. they are safe, i have a mini max-flo that has this feature and they make the threads so the when under pressure the tank cant unscrew

I understand the benefits of being able to take the reg off. But what do you mean they make the threads so it cant unscrew under pressure? I dont get how that works or is different from all the other regs out there. I would like someone to explain the actual differences and how they work in say the micro maxflow and others.

eliotz28 helped look for balloons
becouse the air pressure in the tank dosnt allow the tank to be screwed off under pressure its like trying to unscrew a screw with a car on top of it ino thats a bad analogy but its all i can think off

But the pressure in the tank is pushing the threads out. Not in. Right?

The pressure is pushing out on the threads yes, but that essentially locks the threads together through friction.

So then there is no difference here than any other reg? All the years of being told to loctite the reg ot the tank was for nothing?

That was done before people needed to travel with their tanks and security became such a hassle. The problem with the consumer teflon taping or loctiting the reg down is they'll use too much or put it in the wrong spot where it interferes with the regs vent passages I believe.

the reg isnt different.....

its threaded into the bottle the same way every other reg is on the market, on other tank/reg combos you will find that they too are not loc-tited in (and yes some are). the pressure from the tank pushes the threads on the reg causing them to "bite" if you will on the lip of the tank threads.

best example i can think of is put one hand over the other and push up with your lower hand into the hand covering it, its hard isnt it? just as stated before it creates added friction between the threads thus not allowing them to be separated without a great deal of torque

Thats what I was looking to see. I figured since nobody had marketed their tanks to have the reg easily removed that there was something different with it. Its nice to know that it is just SP marketing something that every tank is capable of.

So then all of the old theory of loctiting the reg in place is over kill and totally unneeded?

Its not. Macdev has done it for a while and I believe Crossfire and Guerrilla also.
