Probably, but it voids the warranty.

99% of the lubes are dow 33 or a very slight variation. Many just add food coloring (evil puss) or some kind of filler to thin it out a bit.
I think Bob Long is the only one who uses dow55. It swells orings a bit and he designs his guns to take that into account.

Dye and PE don't have chemical engineering departments. They buy the stuff from Dow. I'd bet the money used to just develop Dow33 is more Dye has ever made.

dow33 was the shocker lube from the mid 90's with one of the first spool guns out, it was kind of pink back then and i have a huge tube still that i bought for like $10 instead of the tiny dye packaging.

I like PE grease....used it on my Luxe and NT's. DYE isnt gonna void your warranty over it no matter what the manual says. They know all players dont always have DYE grease on hand.

As long as you arent using some **** that messes up the internals you will be ok.

right, dye is pretty cool especially with the NT but IF you have a problem you might want to clean the gun real quick and relube with theirs just so you can say that you tried cleaning everything and relubing and your problem was still there plus it removes the evidence although they can probably tell like the dow55 mentioned above would swell your o-rings and your bolt would be stuck.

i've found that eclipse grease is a little too thin for my nt. I'd start getting drop off after a case of paint. Switched back to sl33k and everything is spot on!

there are different thicknesses of dow 33, but keep in mind that it was really hot and humid in new jersey which may have made the thin pe grease run thinner and shoot itself out quicker. now that its getting alot cooler (in nj) the thinner grease may be better. let us know how it goes!

Buy the Dye lube made specifically for the markers. Most every pro shop has it.

I've used both the DYE Slick Lube and Lurker Lube and thus far have noticed no difference whatsoever.

Like everyone said, the majority of what is sold on the market is based off DOW 33. The old DOW 33 (which someone mentioned earlier) was a super thick, pink, and sticky grease. Now, SL33K as it is called is a thinner, white grease that is much less sticky.

I don't think anything would go horribly wrong if you used one over the other. The best reason to use the DYE lube is it is cheap and the application is easy because of the tiny nozzle. Makes a difference when you only want to put a dab on an individual oring.

Doww 33 comes in a light and medium thickness. I see you live in springhill , I am in clearwater. If you can , go to grainger there is one on hillsborough in tampa and one on 49th st in clearwater. You can get a 5.3 ounce tube for $28.00 . Dye lube is 1/4 ounce for $6.00 do the math on that one. Dye uses the light thickness from what i was told. I just got a tube last week and probably wont need anymore for years to come.

Really weird, I usually go 8-10 cases before tearing it apart and I can still feel it on there.

I have a huge tube of shocker lube that I'll never run out of.

I use it on all my spool guns... no problems so far.

DR stop telling people that. That grease is too thick and I would not recommend it unless you mix it with oil first.

PE grease is just fine, so is most of the dow33 based lubes on the market.
