To elaborate on what he said, the muscles in your eyes essentially lose their ability to see things close. This happens whether you have corrective surgery or not at about 40–45 and we'll all need reading glasses.
Also, I understand that some ppl are worried about the risks. Though I think it's the best thing I've ever spent my money on, I understand it's not for everyone. I just wanted to let those who were on the fence know what to expect.
As for error in the procedure, but they examine you and check your prescription a few times before you actually go in. I may have already mentioned this but they put stickers on each of your shoulders and have you confirm your name, and date of birth which is what's on each shoulder, because the surgery is permanent. For me, who had an astigmatism, what that means is that my eye was more shaped like a football. The surgery molds the ovals shaped point into a round figure so the light and what we see hits the back of the cornea. Some crazy sh** indeed.

My vision is close to 7.00 in both eyes (pretty ****ing blind), not sure how that transfers back to the 20/20 scale. But yeah, I think I might so this as well. Although i don't mind contacts, just when I drink I don't take them out and I wake up dry eyes.
7? Hit me up when you're at -6 in both eyes. Then you can talk to me about being blind.

im -6.5 STFU n00b .

it really does suck when you first wake up and can only see about a foot in front of your face doesnt it? i wish my prescription positive, at least those people can usually still drive and such because they just cant see things close up. moms that way, and shes always been able to watch tv or something comfortable from across the room where i have to move closer.

ive been considering this for a while, got about $2800 saved up for it in a health savings account from work. what are some of the things that can affect the end result? about a year ago i got an infection from contacts and havent been able to wear them sense for more than a few hours. glasses annoy the **** out of me after wearing contacts for 10 years but im worried about some sort of left over infection causing problems lols.

and do the "lifetime adjustments" mean that when your older and your eyes naturally start to go downhill they can touch them up again?

Lifetime adjustments would fine tune anything you cant see far away. As for the aging process that happens, dont think theres anything other than reading glasses that would fox that.

Ill follow up in 30yrs. Lol

-8.5 in both eyes. Eyes was so bad I couldn't get Lasik or PRK. I ended up getting a surgery called ICL; Implantable Collarmer Lens. They pretty much cut a slit and implanted corrective lens into my eyes. The great thing about it is its reversible in a sense. When I get older and my eyesight get worse, I can go in and get the lenses changed out. Got the surgery back in 08. Still have 20/20 vision. Since I'm currently a active service member, it didn't cost me a penny.

Yeah that's extreme. I know someone who had that done when he was 16. He was legally blind almost his whole life. Crazy what technology and science will allow.
