New player, recommendations for gear ?

I played paintball long time ago but not seriously. It was just something me and my friends would do every so often. So now I'm wanting to really get into the sport, already have this dinky Ion but I'd love to hear ideas or recommendations on any and all gear. Also some tips on extras to pack for emergencies such as Allen keys.

I recommend to buy in pieces.
Mask First. Proflex is perfect. V-Force Grillz also work on a budget.
Tank Second. C02 is never a good thing, running HPA can get you more consistent shots.
Loader Third. Good loader is needed to load a ball each time. If you play with and Etek and a gravity, that's a problem. You need electronic loaders to keep up with the fast pacing of guns.
Gun last. Now that you have all the good universal gear, you can buy any gun you want.

Since you already have the Ion, you can just play with that until you have all the good gear. Then you can upgrade to something better.

Give us a budget, so that way we can recommend quality gear in your price range.

Budget, I'd say round 200-400. If I can find cheaper that's fine, but If I really find something I like, I'll splurge.

So, you're talking 2-400 for mask, hopper, tank, marker? Or just 2-400 for marker?

200-400 for mask, hopper, tank, pants, pads and small stuff. Marker I'm not worried about right now.

Mask - Preference. Whatever feels best on you. You should buy this piece of equipment first. The mask is the only thing protecting your eyes, so make sure it is one that will fit you nicely. Do not skimp on the mask. Go to a local field or shop, and try some masks on, see which ones you like. Make sure it is a mask that comes with a thermal lens, so you can see well. Once you find a mask that fits you nicely, you can buy it new or I highly recommend shopping on the b/s/t forum here on PbNation. You can buy like new gear for really good prices. Plan to spend at least $30 on a used high-end quality mask. usually around $100 if you buy it new from a shop or an online store.

Hopper - Again, preference. My personal favorite is the Dye Rotor. You can buy it used on here for $80. The Virtue Spire is also great, as well as the Empire Z2.

Tank - New they can cost $150. Used, $100 or less. A carbon fiber 4500 psi tank is what I recommend. They are light, and get you the best fill. They come in different sizes, such as 48, 50, 68, etc, which is how big the tank itself is, not how much it holds. The 4500 psi is how much air it will hold. My personal favorite is the 68.

Pants - Personal preference. My favorites are the Planet Eclipse and Empire pants. New some of these can be $150 or more. Used, $100 or less. Again, check out the b/s/t forum for good deals on this stuff.

Pads- Depending on what and how you play, you may not need pads, but it is still something you should pick up anyways. Knee pads, and elbow pads. You could even use volleyball knee pads if you wanted, which would still work. Empire, Planet Eclipse, Dye, Sly, etc all make high quality knee and elbow pads.

Podpack - Preference. A lot of good ones out there. The best ones cost $60 new, but look at the b/s/t forum on here.

Cleats - If you plan to play speedball, or on a grassy terrain, I'd suggest picking some of these up. I personally use football cleats, but there are good quality paintball cleats out there, like exalt, hk, etc. Make sure they are rubber cleats though if you buy non-paintball cleats and not metal, because metal cleats are usually not allowed, as they tear up the grass easily.

Gloves- Mainly for winter time, or just for hand protection from paintball in general. Do your research, see what you like.

Jersey - You can find nice cheap ones on the b/s/t forum.

Do your research by reading the reviews on all of the gear on here under the reviews section of PbNation, to see what you'll like Hope I was of help!

Hmmm... well, you kind of want a lot of stuff for a very small budget. Not being a jerk, just saying. So, how's the ion shoot?

You would naturally have to buy stuff used as well.

You're right, it is a small budget. But its also just an ideal budget. Not set in stone. Kinda why I posted. Need help figuring it out and give myself a real look into what I should spend just to start out. Ion shoots great bur I'm jealous that my fiancé has a shocker with a Lurker bolt in it. That thing shoots way quieter. In a perfect world I'd have an Axe

I know, a buddy of mine just bought an Axe PPD LE. That thing is amazing, can't wait till he lets me fire it down at the field.
