Anyone ever try this bolt mod?
Angel A1 bolts have a very small hole that divert a tiny bit of air over the eyes when the gun shoots. It works awesome on my Angel and I'm curious if anyone has tried something like this on your G6R? It has the "potential" to cause some blow back in the feed tube but if you are using a force feed hopper it should not matter. It will also cause a drop in efficency but it may be worth it ( I refill between each game anyway).

I'm guessing this is supposed to be a eye cleaning hole in case paint covers them

is there really that much air propelling the bolt? I always assumed that in an EP gun, that most if not all air went to the ram?

When properly tuned, the G6R shouldn't really chop or blow paint at all but the effectiveness of this mod, could be something to look at, get a hold of the user JUIT for your idea.

most of the air is use to propel the paintball not the ram. LP air moves the ram and HP air propels the balls
it's an interesting idea that I'm sure could be done easily, just have to figure out where the holes need to be drilled and I would probably keep them small like 1/16 size or maybe a hair smaller

Yea, the holes in the A1 bolt are VERY small. I picked up another stock bolt and when I get it I'm going to put some holes in it to see how it works.....I may just be blowing $20. But I think it is worth looking at.

do some trial runs with it by actually putting paint on the eyes and let us know how it works. would be kinda nice to know

I know that there were some problems at first with the angels dislodging the eyes when shooting, thus the newer stiffer eye covers. Just something to keep in mind. You might have to put something behind the eyes to keep them in place hope it works tho!

that was because of the eye cover 'fingers' that the angel used. they are part of the cover that hides the front of the lower tubes but not actually screwed into the marker. The idea was that they could flex, allowing the detents to move out of the way easily when the gun fires, thus making the rubber fingers last longer.
The G6R uses a far superior detent system, and really you shouldn't be breaking paint or getting that much garbage in your breach anyway.

I agree that you shouldn't, and I haven't, be breaking any paint in the breach of the gun. However, I did like this little feature when I had my A1 Fly and would be interested in hearing if any attempts work for you.

All guns do eventually break paint. It's not always the gun, especially if it's a G6R. However, a bad batch of paint can cause some horrific problems in any gun. I know, I had it happen to my G6R with LP poppit and pillow bolt. Granted it doesn't take long to clean the eyes off (like 5-10 mins) but it would be nice if the eyes cleaned themselves while you played.
If this kind of mod worked, I doubt it would help the paint breaking issue like the one I had though.

No it wouldn't help paint breaking issues but it might help you get back on the field faster once you change out paint/loader and swab your barrel (in the case of bad paint)
I did get another stock bolt to play with, I will post the results of testing here once I do the mod. I was on the fence about trying it but there is enough interest to give it a try.
I have shot about 4 cases through my G6R without one breech break BUT I still want to try this

This. People seem to forget that ANY prefectly tuned gun can chop a ball if it is a bad paintball. Dimples, cracks, misshapen, theres so much variance in paint.
I'd say its an idea worth playing with. Bolts are relatively inexpensive and if you mess one up or it doesnt work well just go back to your previous bolt. Give it a try !

I don't think anyone would deny that bad paint causes some problems.
However, I still haven't broken a ball in a G6 with any type of paint.
G6r powaaaaaaa

I honestly think I had my tension too high on my loader, and the paint was really brittle. Most likely user error.

What about 4C eyes though wouldn't that be a little tricky?

Good point...the concept is a little fuzzy to me, but could you perhaps change the angle the hole was drilled at so that the air flow hits all 4 eye areas?

Usually paint breaks in the break are due to too much force from the loader, mixed with brittle paint, and an unlucky user... I would assume the holes would have to be pretty small in the end part, and cone shaped at the end, to blow out the much needed air to project the paint from the eyes.

This is all speculation of course because I have not tried it yet but from the looks of the eye hole placement (I don't have 4c eyes) it would just be two sets of holes.
I'm not going to get to complex with it, it might not even work. Just drilling a couple of holes and testing....we will see.
