Oh ok that makes sense. I just don't want to try and get a better disability rating (VA disability it sounds like id be dealing with?) but then not be able to work where I want. I'm shooting for Firefighting/EMT when I'm out. And I'll probably just go work with my buddy delivering beer while I'm in school.

I hear all kinds of things about automatic disability ratings, like if youre in an airborne unit for 3 years its auto 10%, or if you deploy in Kabul its auto 10% because of how bad the air quality is etc.. any info on that sort of thing?

EDIT- I'm not trying to **** the system or anything, but my body just isnt in the same condition it was before I joined, and if I can get some extra cash for it...**** it.

As long as your disability doesn't prevent you from doing the things needed to do the job, you're GTG.

Not only can your percentage not stop you, around here being a vet gets you 10 extra points on your entry exams for city and county firefighter jobs.

Hey there....There is something called the safer grant where fire departments that apply and get this deal basically take dd214 holders and put them through fire standards. In FL city of Orlando and Jacksonville FL are about to start doing it and brevard county FL has already hired and 30 vets on the job/training. Research this asap......

On other news, Florida gives free state college to veterans. Georgia does to, but currently only to one school in North Georgia.

I got my free GA veteran license, veteran ID, and veteran vanity plates for 3 vehicles.

havent read the rest of the thread, so i apologize if this is reduntant. Does getting a Vet plate mean free tabs, or have any other benefits? Debating whether I wanna get one or not. I like to stay low key, but saving money is nice.

in arizona, all you get is a veteran plate, you still pay for tags, basically just a cop deterrant

You get an exemption for tag fees through the AZ DMV if you've been deployed, separate from a vet plate. You have to get JAG or a CO to sign off on the paper.

Are you in AZ? You need an officer (legal authority) to sign it. Bring your dd214 with you to JAG.
