its exactly who it was in the comics. if its not then its the first time they actually deviated from blatant foreshadowing in this series (plus the POV stuff during that episode narrows it down to 1 of 4 people and from there it gets more obvious).

Don't read too much into the POV shots. Apparently they filmed that final shot with only a small crew and Jeffery (Negan) and he was hitting a test dummy. So the angle could be completely off.
None of the actors know who it is that died.
As I've noted to other people that I discuss the show with, I don't think it can be Abraham. Negan's kill has to have an impact (at least if they want to be like the comics). Abraham all but said "I volunteer as tribute".
If anything, that's all the more reason for Negan to keep him alive.
My money is on Glenn or Eugene. Both have had their fair share of foreshadowing. I would weigh more in favor of it being Glenn because of his little outburst.

Wouldn't be surprised if it is, but I sort of feel like they'll keep him around and deviate from the comics a bit. I think there were a lot of things leading up to that that could be seen as foreshadowing.
Eugene seemed like he was ready to sacrifice himself and gave the bullet instructions to Rick, kind of showing that he could be gone.
Glenn did his *****ing when Negan threatened Maggie so that makes him a prime candidate, plus your point.
Abraham did the soft ***, "let's start a family," thing which kind of makes me feel like they'll knock him off soon. Plus he stood up to Negan a little bit which could work either for or against him.
Daryl could go to show that he was an idiot for not killing Dwight.
If it's anyone besides those four, I'll be shocked.

I don't buy the **** about the actors not knowing who it was. They're going to start filming soon if they haven't already, you can't just tell your guy last minute that he needs to go find a new job. Plus, and my memory is hazy and most of the internet is bull****, but I think I remember some type of dispute with Norman Reedus and I'm pretty sure he's getting his own show soon. If that's the case it makes total sense to chop him.

The show runner stated that nobody except a few people know who it was, and even the actor didn't know yet. Although he said they were about to start shooting again soon, and they'd know shortly.
At the time of the filming they purposely didn't document where they were going so nobody except a select few had that future storyline info.
They go back in May or June I think.

I'm still curious to see what promos they use for next season.
We can be sure Rick and Carl survived, based on Negan's comments. So I guess they could use them in promos. And they can tease Carol and Morgan, and have bits of Negan.
But they can't show anything that involves the group members currently getting bruised knees.

My money's on Eugene. He's gotten a lot of attention lately, opportunities to be heroic, and they made a point of him giving the directions to make bullets to Rick like Barber pointed out. He can die leaving the other characters and audience with appreciation for him that we didn't have before, we'll go into the new season missing him.
The fact that Abraham basically volunteered tells me Negan wouldn't target him. IIRC some writer or producer said we can stop looking to the comics for future information, so that suggests Glenn is safe. We know Maggie's safe because Negan said he'd kill one person, and no doubt he recognizes fetuses as human life because he's awesome

i think there are only 3 people it could be and abraham is one of them as he should already be dead. they have deviated from the comics substantially in the past with main characters (Andrea) but its not very often. Daryl was never in the comics and his story is kind of made up as they go, abraham should already be dead and the other person is the guy who gets the beat down in the comics. i hope its the same as the comics as that characters blows *** lately.
given the tendency to resort to lazy writing i dont think they would deviate from one of those 3. losing anyone else would be very...bizarre.

I don't think Daryl's story is over yet, he definitely isn't safe. Abraham is at the point that he COULD die, but as I stated.. if they want to follow Negan's MO, Abraham is safe for now.
I think killing Eugene would be bizarre. His character has been well developed, and he just passed on his biggest piece of plot armor (bullet crafting).
I'd like to say that Maggie is safe, due to her weakness. She would have immediately passed out upon being hit, given that she was already in such bad shape..and again, she doesn't fit Negan's MO.

Does anyone else somewhat feel like Rick got his *** kicked and the entire next season will be a slow and boring one about his recovery? I mean, they dicked us for the entirety of season 2 so I wouldn't be overly surprised.

Looking back at the last episode, we see that whoever gets clubbed with Lucile has the stamina and fortitude to take the first hit "like a champ." By my reckoning, there's only three characters present able to take a hit like that: Daryl, Abraham, and Glenn. Despite Eugene manning-up as of late, I just don't see him taking that first hit.

I'm gonna be pretty upset, if the first episode doesn't start exactly where they left off. So help me, if episode 1 starts as Negan's back-story...

Sorry to disappoint you, but half of the season will be Negan's backstory. Mid season will have the part we want to see, and then we will be left with another cliff hanger.

that episode was really something. my wife and I agree
it was as emotionally charged as the Hold the Door one
from GoT. Wow, I am amazed at how much cable shows
have evolved in the past few years. before, only movies
could achieve this level of intensity, imho. Westworld is
also looking very promising at this early stage.

O, I'm cool with a Negan backstory. In fact, I'm looking forward to learning why they call themselves the Saviors. I just didn't want to see Negan's backstory in place of a conclusion to the cliffhanger.

I've kinda been wanting to check out Westworld.
It's crazy to me that they will let them get away with showing someone getting their head bashed to a sloppy joe like consistency... but they have to sensor some of the best lines from the comics.
Wish HBO had TWD. Deadwood was so good with all the language and occasional titty.

I hated last weeks episode. This week was pretty dang good though. Anything with Negan makes me happy.
