from my understanding, the jeep 4.7 die must faster than the 4.0. my friends dad has one that already needs not valve seals. its going to cost more money to replace them then getting a new motor, and thats with a jeep tech doing the work for dirt cheap. they are powerful motors, they just chew up trannys and then drop dead.

156k on mine and it runs/sounds like a brand new motor. All the wj forums have good things to say about the 4.7 too. I'm not too worried, I got it cheap and won't put more than 2-3k on it a year.

I would have to say after working at a Chrysler dealership as a parts AM and technician the 4.7 and I6 are both excellent engines. I don't have a problem with any engine within 20 years other than the 2.7L and 3.6L engines

We have had nothing but problems with our Grand Cherokee, and we bought it new and it barely got driven for the first 5 years of its life. I've been trying to convince my parents to sell it for years.

We've had 5 Cherokee/GCs And had nothing but good experiences. My dad beats the hell out of his jeeps and puts ~30k a year on them with almost no issues. Probably the only mopar I'd buy

This is a '95 GC that my brother picked up a month or so ago,





He bought it for $400 from a local jeep guy. ~160k on the 5.2L. The quadradrive still works fine, and the motor sounds great. There is some rust, dings and dents, but hey for $400 who can complain?
