2012 Proto Reflex Rail

Hey guys,
I'm a newbie when it comes to paintball and am looking to purchase my first gun. I've heard a lot of good things about the reflex rail and I am thinking about purchasing one soon. My question is involving the maintenance. Will it be difficult to deal with for a new player like me? I'm not very paintball savy, but I am a fairly quick learner

Most guns are pretty low maintenance these days. Just read the manual and use the correct lube. Check the stickies in whatever gun manufacturer forum for the gun you get. A lot of people like the reflex/rails but I didn't. I had a 2009 PMR and hated the thing. I think it was just a lemon. Sold it and got an invert mini which I do like although the choice is really up to you.

Yeah I hear ya. I've also seen all of the reviews. Didn't like the PMR? I'm not sure about that but I've just seen a lot of positivity about the 12 reflex rail over earlier models

Its a very simple marker to maintain. Without the LPR it makes it easier. After each use make sure you remove the battery and lube it up well and make sure things are clean and it will be no hassle. You will quickly learn how to keep up with the minimal maintenance.

I purchased my 2012 Reflex(new) a couple of weeks ago and have run 3 cases through it. The only problem I had was the back end of the bolt eased out a 1/2 a turn which allowed the paint to jam away from the eyes, as in there was too much room between the detents and the bolt, instead the the paint moving forward it would jamm in reverse away from the eyes towards the bolt. This happened to be my fault since before I started shooting paint I had pulled the gun apart and lube the back two O-rings which allowed for the slippage of the bolt. Come to find out later, through reading other threads on PBNation, that those are the only two O-rings you Don't lube on the marker. Other than that the gun is throwing ropes, is quiet, and easy to work on. The bolt is a piece of cake to work on and take apart, 10 minutes at the end of the weekend for clean up and lube.

Oh there are two O-rings you don't lube? That is news to me. I have not seen anything on that upon what I've read

I love my reflex and it will make a great backup when I make an update

I've had a PMR since they first came out.
It's been a great gun, even though I had a bad gasket from Dye.
After they replaced that, I have not had any issues.
As long as you clean and lube the bolt and change the batteries every few month it will never let you down.
