Can dust anno be polished?
Just wondering if I can polish my dust black axe.

You can spend $4,000 on a tournament and play 10 30 minute games, or spend $200 on a scenario and play 48 hours non stop.

You would need a buffing wheel, then have to get it re-anodized.

You can't polish the ano itself. Dust or gloss ano depends on the metal surface it's applied to.
Glass ano is polished parts
Dust ano is normally media blasted parts
Anodizers normally charge more for a dust to gloss conversion because of this fact.

I'm confused.
My question,
I have a dust finished stock empire axe. Can I polish it with a buffing wheel? To give it that shiny raw look

Yes, but if not done correctly it will not look good.
Best to have it done professionally.

I'd try it on a cheap barrel first.
So what do I need? I checked the polish sticky. Is that method outdated or still good?

A buffing wheel is helpful but most of the work is in the sanding stages. Especially when coming from a dust finish it will take more time and work

You will have to strip the anno off first, down to the raw aluminum.

I would be easier to sell your mini and buy one the color you want. You may loose a few bucks but you won't waste 10 hours trying to polish your marker.

you have to get your Axe re anno'd to polished color.
Contact "FX Anodizing" "caustic Customs" or another anodizing company and ask them.

if you want to remove ano, and keep tolerances in check on inside, remove parts and take it all apart. start with 450g sand paper, go in 1 direction(vertical), then move to 400g in (horizontal). Do this untill u get to 2000g sanding wet. Give it a good soap and water rinse. Then some mothersmag or high quality polish cream and buffing wheel. Then hand polish as needed to keep shine.

I hope you have plenty of time and patience and attention to detail. Stripping anno and polishing so it doesn't look wavy or disturbing internal tolerances isn't an easy feat.
I suggest sending it out especially because it seems like this is your first time.

Most dust finishes can be taken out with a wet sand of 800-1500. Its not that bad. If you have a good bench polisher, using the right compounds will do the rest of the work.

Def do not start with 450 grit. Starting that coarse is why most of these raw polished guns have all those hairlines scratches in them. Starting with 800 or a thousand still might leave hairlines. ( it will take longer, but the devil is in the details).
