If you want to reduce paint consumption, just use semi auto and one finger on the trigger.

Adrenaline-Junkie brings up some valid points. If and when a player decides to move on to the higher end sport they will have a learning curve to overcome.
My argument is that the learning curve won't really be as extreme as it may seem. Playing in a mode such as this forces the player to be more accurate. They also would have a chance to learn how to play in a much more forgiving environment.
Those who wish to step up already know what they're getting into having observed the higher end players already, the others keep pumping money into the industry through rental sales.
Also, the money it would cost to play would be much less, and much more likely to have return customers on a regular basis. If it doesn't cost that much to play then you're going to be able to do it more often.

Which is a surprisingly fun way to play. There's a church group that I go play with. It only costs me about 2 bags of paint for the entire day because I just one ball the whole time. There's a very large skill difference between me (who has been playing for 4 years) and a bunch of kids who have only played once or twice. Just take it easy and have fun.

Your totally missing the point. Fields wont have to purchase pumps as rentals and its geared towards kids and first time players. But I've played it already and it is a blast for anyone. It offers quite a challenge believe it or not.

I think it would be cool to turn your electro into a pump, even if it is just simulated! Good idea, hope it keeps on going!

...WEAK SAUCE
You can limit anyone's firing speed by making them use ****ty hoppers, or only bring a very small number of paintballs onto a field.

this whole thing is a farce, A FARCE I SAY!
all fields have already established a rental marker system that works cheaply, reliably, without batteries, and more than satisfies the customers demands
there is ZERO need to purchase another pile of electronic markers to maintain that will do the exact same thing the rental markers will do.
and the mode is BS as well, all you need to do is learn to control your fingers, its not that hard
in this case it seems to me that "Billy" is trying to re-invent a system that has worked for years and served the sport well. Next thing you know he will be trying to patent the wheel.

It was termed that by guys at our All American Paintball Park. It was because it was something Billy wanted. They fought against it and lost... And then they played and their perception changed.
This is aimed at the new players guys that are coming out for the first time, possible league play (which this makes it much easier to do like bar wars and frats wars and so forth), and the guy who is burnt out. Try it before you hate on it...

pretty sure if I put any marker in semi I can control EXACTLY how much paint it puts out
as for this being for parties, I have hosted hundreds of parties at my local field as a ref and everyone has a blast playing with tippmanns so Im very skeptical that switching everybody to a vibe at 1 ball every 2 seconds will be an improvement.

Well technicly youd have to change a few settings (in some cases with soem guns). Still, its pointless for almost anyone.

Many companies had to redo their programming just to hit 10bps.
Also... I have been a ref. I have managed paintball fields. That is where I started. I have a lot of experience in this area and in my opinion, this is an alternate choice that is given.
For instance, a vibe will have both programs available, so you can switch back and forth easily for the groups. Also, as talking to people on the phone about the park, there have been too many times that they do not come out because of the added costs of paint. This can be an all inclusive thing a field can do to help at least get them in the door. If this opens up more marketing for a field and possibly even bring in more new players, how can it be bad? Isn't that what we all want? More people to shoot at?

I understand that what you want for the industry is a good thing
what Im saying is that using the mechanical rental markers that field owners use now give the player complete control over how much paint they shoot
if the player wants to shoot slow they will shoot slow
if the player wants to shoot fast they will shoot fast
having parties shooting faster is actaully more beneficial to the sport in my opinion since that will translate to more paint purchased meaning the field will do better, meaning it will be there longer, to serve customers longer
at 1 ball 2 seconds an entire party of 10 could last a day on a case, thats not what field owners want to see

People not coming to play because of the cost of paint only have themselves to blame. All they have to do is control how much they shoot or initially spend. If there are people out there to dumb to handle that and then complain there are bigger issues for them to consider then cost. Its sad, youre limiting the rof to an insanly low speed simply because some people are to dumb to manage their paint usage. The industry shouldnt have to slow thigns down and make people take baby steps because they are to stupid to manage things themselves. The industry also shouldnt candy coat things for beginners or younger kids in this way (im not saying changing some things is bad though) as it will only be a shock when they try and play with regulars later on. Getting players hooked on paintball is good, getting players hooked on playing in a way that isnt realistic is not good.

If you cant handle playig like everyone else the first time, then you probably shouldnt be playing paintball.

do you have to ***** and whine about everything?
i don't think i've ever seen a positive post from you
and yes they are making some pretty valid points here, when i started playing paintball, it was with my friends and everyone was shooting a tippy or spyder, had i shown up to a field where everyone was shooting 15bps i would have probably been turned off pretty quickly
