It increases your feed rate by about a ball or two a second. Plus it gives the other team a smaller target to shoot at when you're shooting around bunkers.(Don't have to worry about your hopper sticking out)

If you're just a regular player there is probably no need for a vertical feed. But if you play allot of tournaments, it can give you an edge...

The vertical feed is clamped in by the body halves. So far, with all the field testing, there hasn't been any problems with them falling out or breaking off. When the halves are put together they are clamped very tight.
The vertical feeds are two piece plastic & aluminum. The feed tube it's self is 1 inch diameter thick walled plastic tubing. The hopper adapter is a Tippmann aluminum straight elbow that's pressed fit in.

He probably means that the pressure from the halves being put together makes it fit and stay in there.

The elbow has a 7/8 end and the inside diameter of the plastic tubing is slightly smaller. In order to make the elbow fit in the tubing, you either have to hammer the elbow in or press it in with a vise. Once it's pressed in, you can't get them apart unless you cut off the tubing.

Yes, you can sill take the gun apart. The vertical feed pulls out when you unscrew the body halves.
