UWL Penn.
Any news on UWL Pennsylvania yet? MWB will be attending the event and hoping to get other teams in on the awesome field. Has anyone heard anything?

No news here, but Failure to Flatline is planning on this event as well. Hopefully Tom can give us an update on PA in Georgia this weekend.

I talked to Tom about the PA event this weekend and it sounds like he is having a hard time finding another date that works with his schedule, as well as the field schedule. He is still working on a date and he assured me that the PA event will still happen. I made the suggestion that he just leave it as the original date and let the teams decide which event they would like to play. I'd rather see the PA event happen August 4-5 vs. not at all. What do you guys think?

I honestly dont think this event is going to happen at all. Reason? Simple $. The GA event hurt the leagues wallet big time. $2000 rent for the field, 5 refs $200 each, 2 prizes given out $2500. Thats $5500 that goes out. Only 2 pro teams entry $1500, 3 tactical teams entry $1350. Thats $2850. Thats a $2650 LOSS. They wont be having this event. Trust me on this!!!

PA is one of the best events and always brings in a good crowd
It will happen, but the date has to put out soon for people to plan for it

Yeah PA always brings in a good crowd.. I will also say one thing about GA. It is the first year that the tournament was held there. If you go back to the start of the league and the first event at any location and the turnout is very much the same. The only way to grow a league or any business is to take risks and bring it to potential markets and grow it. You are most likely going to take a loss which in the first year for the UWL took a HUGE loss I am willing to bet. GA has the potential to do really well, BUT I will say that other than here on the UWL forum and such there really wasn't much promoting from what I saw.
Now about PA, I would really be shocked if it does not happen. Tom knows a ton of people from the area, not to mention that event has grown every year so far.
But I agree we shall wait and see what Tom does with it, I hope that it happens and I agree I say just keep the date and let the players decide which to go to.. IMO HCPL should move their date being the newer league in the arena and promote the tournament by bringing teams to the UWL event. Hell even maybe sponsor the UWL PA event and give the winning teams half price entry to the HCPL event.. Just an idea.

I really hope PA happens. I've heard a lot of great stuff about that event/field. How many teams came out last year?

Yes yes yes Woody, we are all tired of waiting. We NEED Tom to be responsible and put a date out, (even if it conflicts). With where we are in the season now, it has to be put back further than April, so i would suggest an AUG date. We will be doing NE, PA, then Nationals. It would be great if we could begin planning for that. Lots of stuff is on hold for this and I am not sure if Tom sees that.
I know he is busy, and i am glad for that, but remember those little guys who have to put in for vacation to GO to the events, where as He takes Vacations FROM them. lol
