but nyc is odd with even transporting a gun has different rules. Lets say going from NJ to long island , you have to deal with NYCs bull**** when driving there.

You can. My dad had 3 or 4 rifles, a shot gun and a pistol living in NYC. They all had to be registered though, where in the rest of the state only pistols need to be registered.
