people keep bring it back, but i will, though i'm right traction is greatly effected by temperature of road surfaces though no one here will care about it...

you contradicted yourself pretty badly...

not to mention anything under 75? not everyone lives in florida...

It's a 1-2 pull on a straight road in an awd car. Big deal not found.

yes it will? you understand asphalt stays generally 30-40 degrees warmer than the air correct?

95* day the asphalt will be around 140-150degrees

this is true, we arnt talking about ocean water temperature here.

the black absorbs heat, also thats why they state the track temperature for drag races and nascar .

that when snows on the ground and its damp its obviously not staying warm enough? first it should be common sense that it doesn't stay as warm wet second if its cold enough to snow and stay on the ground it should be pretty obvious that the temps are in the 30's to very very low 40's. when its wet and dreary at those air temps its going to be unfit to drive in that manor.

The key thing is the snow is laying on the ground, not the road. Your point about road's being warmer still applies here, especially with the way the weather has been. It was 60 one day, 30 and snowing the next. Even though you see snow, how do you know ambient, let along road temperature?

You know there's snow on houses from 2 weeks ago where i live? It's been in the 40's - 50's since then.

Second, it's an AWD car in a straight line.

no because you have no understanding of melting points, lack of direct sunlight and heat exchange.

at which point the snow would be melting and slowly seeping into the asphalt causing it to be damp and cool.

just because something is awd doesn't mean it bypasses rules of traction, its still not a safe situation.

Damp and cool are relative. Sure, the snow is making the road cooler, but by how much and at what temperature? You surely can't tell from a video.

I've had 2 awd cars, i need no explanation. AWD does give you an insane traction advantage in wet and cold with decent tires, though.

kfresh, it wasn't cold during the time this video was shot. like the op said, you don't live here. during that time it was actually REALLY nice outside, probably in the fifties and maybe even sixties. we got a freak snow storm and everyone's power in western MA and a lot of CT went out. most of the snow was melted before noon the next day and was completely gone the day after that. if anything you should be giving him **** for most likely having to dodge all the ****ing trees that were knocked over.

didn't even watch the OPs video. instead i watched this which i'm sure everyone's already seen but i'm posting anyways.

several times yes... its even snowed here before.

i've also raced a 400hp car on tracks with 40 degree air temp that were prepped for racing and it wasn't safe and it didn't feel safe. if the race track doesn't feel safe at those temps the roads definitely don't either.

it being there is enough info to know its not a smart idea to be doing that.
