While what you're saying is probably true, what is your source?

You know, because torturing people for all eternity isn't evil at all.....

Who cares?
Why do atheists feel the need to attack Christianity? Did anyone in this forum message you saying that you're going to hell?
You're just bad as the Christians that you're trying to offend.

WE ARE AT WAR WITH CHRISTIANITY!
The fact that no one told us were going to hell has anything to do with it. He wanted to point out a bit of information, and a probable common misconception that the devil has killed more people than god.

So is this an estimation, because I don't remember the bible having exact numbers for say the people killed in the flood or the male egyptians. If it does have a number for those instances, my mistake and point me in the right direction.

I should have said "violent atheists"
I'd imagine that Christians would focus the bible on God, and not Satan, so showing the wrath of God would have more impact.
Simply saying that "Satan is the root of all evil, except when God does it" covers all bases.

This post reveals YOUR bias, not his. All he did was post what I believe to be a pretty factual body count between God and Satan, straight from the bible. If you interpret Christianity's own "facts" as an attack on the religion, then maybe you need to reconsider your faith.

Exactly what I was thinking. Surely if the Bible had some figures it would be more common knowledge.

That number is probably a literal addition of the deaths in the bible. The "exactness" of the number probably simply comes from lots of big AND little massacres.
(Example: God kills 30,000 people in one chapter, 300 in another, and strikes down a single man in a third chapter. Our total is 30,301, which looks absurdly precise until you realize how it was calculated.)

I'm not Christian, if thats what you're getting at.
I was trying to convey how unnecessary that post was. Why does it matter to anyone how many people God killed in the bible?
I mean, if he's an atheist, he feels that the bible is entirely made up anyway. So the "fact" itself has no relevance, other then to make people angry. I see no point in it.
Maybe I'm just laid back (for lack of a better term) but I see no reason to try and spark controversy.

Sorry, your post came across as defensive so I interpreted you as a christian.
And really, this whole forum exists for controversy and discussion. Personally I'd like very much to see some religious folks respond to that statistic.

It's all good. I'm pretty neutral as far as religion goes, but seeing Taoism has kind of gotten me interested into that ideology.
But it was more of a moral issue to me then a religious one.

a problem with the religion section is when people attack someones post as being an attack. They posted here saying that hes aethies and attacking christianity. When they posted in the Pastafarian thread, they said I was just trying to make fun of religion.
no one remembers the old "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you" thing.
Why cant people just discuss without attacking.
Im pastafarian but i accept that other can be christian, jewish, islamic, ect. and it doesnt bother me.
The numbers in this post reprepsent who god has killed, but that is because satan doesnt kill people, he just influences them. how about we discuss why god killed people, or who satan killed, or what satan does insted of killing people.
There is no need to attack each other. The whole religion thread is turning into the "Official i hate your views" subsection.

Pastafarianism isn't mocking any one religion, though. It's not unnecessary, and it's making a valid point. The purpose of it was specifically to show the hypocrisy of Christianity, and while it should be allowed, could have been conveyed in a better manner.
