You say that, but I played a Micro Terror through a Marshall 4x12 and I was very surprised at the output.

I mean, I've never tried it, so I really wouldn't know.

Totally need something small, low powered, and cheap though while I figure out what to do with the Merc, and until I can afford an Orange. Been having to use the Micro Cube primarily lately and it chaps my balls very much.

I'm a big fan of the small VHT heads, and like what' been said before, swap out the tubes for American tubes and they get even better.

I've only played the first version of the Special 6 heads. It was cool, but not enough to buy it at the time (it was ****ing cheap though). I'm really curious to try out the 12/20's and the Standard 18, but I never see them ANYWHERE.

Might just go for an Epi Valve Jr. and mod the hell out of it. Didn't Jones buy one of those a little while ago? If you stop through here brother, do you still have it? Or did that Gibson replace it in your low-wattage, vintage tone slot? They're cheaper than **** on ebay right now. $50-100 on average. Seems like a great platform to build from.

*prepares anus for another tone vs. timbre argument*

edit: Speaking of this small amp, I'm really looking for the best natural distortion/crunch, which pretty much puts Vox and the Marshall Class As out of the equation. The clean channel on my Crate sounds phenomenal, but it needs to breathe hard to get nice distorted tone. 120w 2x12 is mad overkill, can't say I regret buying it though because it was $90 ~5 years ago and sounds good if you can get the volume past 1 without the cops being involved -.-

This. I'd still get some beers with the dude.

A buddy of mine has the epi valve jr. It's fantastic for what it is, just opt for the head. Though I probably don't have to tell any of you here that.

Just about everything sounds good in the store, but things change dramatically when you're alone in a quite room.
I'll be (hopefully) coming home with an amp like this today. AC4TV, Tiny Terror, whatever. I'm going to try them all out and get something to play with again.

FYI fellers, Guitar Center has a 15% off your entire purchase deal if you use your GC credit card. When you buy in store, there are no brand exclusions, and they can order anything they don't have and still get the discount. Still feeling a little sore about the RG thing, but 15% off on an amp and guitar is hard to pass up.

It takes ~10 minutes, free, and you get 0% financing for a year. To me, it's worth the time to save a good chunk of money. One of the nice things about GC is being able to return crap you don't really want, or you can return an item only to buy it again for less when a better sale comes up. Knowing I can return gear for any reason makes me feel more comfortable slapping down cash; use it for 3 weeks, decide it's not the sound you wanted, and just take it back.

I'm a bastard though, I even use the bathroom in Starbucks without buying coffee there.

Well, I came home with an AC4TV and a Fuzz Factory in hand.
Next weekend, I'm snagging my Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay back. With my wah, I'll be set for a while.

Should the Fuzz Factory tell me that the AC4TV isn't very gainy? I haven't used one in person, but the reviews look good.

It's got plenty of gain. Simply turning the volume up breaks it up quite a bit.

I bought the Fuzz Factory because I had one before and I absolutely freaking loved it. I've tried a couple of other fuzzes, but that one has always sounded and behaved the best for me. My old Fuzz Factory was stolen when my apartment was robbed over a year ago It was time for another purchase.

Here's a small clip with clean and dirty. The Clean is on the 1/4 watt setting, with the volume just to the point of having a crisp attack. The dirty is on the 1 watt setting with the fuzz factory. I'll get a sample with the Fuzz Factory when I can actually turn it up a bit.

Are there any stipulations towards how long you have to own the card?

I may do this with my next couple purchases. Except, I'd save up the money for the order, get the card, buy my ****, then pay off the debt IMMEDIATELY and cancel the card.

You can apply for the card, get it within a few minutes and use it immediately. They also do 0% financing, which is pretty sweet.

Do you have credit already? If you don't already have good or a long credit history, chances are you won't get approved instantly.

Zero credit. I abhor credit cards, or anything that utilizes the debt system.

So, ****.
